Open Data

According to the Open Knowledge Foundation, open data is data that can be freely used and used and 
redistributed by anyone. The definition of open data can be summarized as follows.

1.Availability and access (Availability and Access). The data must be fully available, preferably can be 
downloaded via the internet. Data must also be available in an appropriate form and can be modified.
2.Re-use and redistribution (Re-use and Redistribution). Data must be under conditions that permit reuse 
and redistribution including combining with other data sets.
3.Universal participation (Universal participation). Everyone can use, reuse, and distribute without 
discrimination.

Vision:
The presence of open data for the City of Bandung basically aims to support the realization of the vision 
and mission of the City of Bandung. Based on the vision of the City of Bandung, the vision of open data for 
the City of Bandung is as follows:

Mission:
Based on the vision that has been set, the mission of implementing open data for the City of Bandung is as 
follows:

1.Improving and Improving Public Services in the City of Bandung. With the open data, it is hoped that 
there will be improvements in all public services in the city of Bandung. The dataset contained in the open 
data portal, can provide an overview of public services in the city of Bandung. This creates awareness both
from the government side as a service provider and the community as a service customer. Therefore, it is 
hoped that with the awareness of various parties, public services in the city of Bandung can be improved 
and improved on an ongoing basis.

2. Increasing Community Participation in Data Collection and Utilization in Bandung City. 
The open data  portal is expected to increase community participation in two aspects, namely data 
collection and data utilization. In terms of data utilization, the public is expected to be able to take 
advantage of the data so as to create various innovative things such as applications or visualizations. 
In terms of data collection, the community is expected to be able to participate in collecting various 
data that cannot be collected by the agency or government.

3. Improving Transparency and Accountability by Optimizing Public Supervision of the Implementation of 
Bandung City Government. 
Based on Law No. 14 of 2008, there is information that must be provided and announced by public bodies. 
With the open data portal, it is hoped that various data from public agencies can be included. Therefore, 
it is hoped that public supervision of the administration of government in the city of Bandung can increase 
with the existence of an open data portal.

4.Improving the Integration of Inter-agency or Institutional Data in the City of Bandung. 
With the open data, it is expected to be able to increase the uniformity of data in the city of Bandung. 
This can solve the problem of differences in similar data made by various agencies in the city of Bandung.
