Yunimar: The role of WPA towards PLWHA is very important

The role of the AIDS Concerned Citizen (WPA) is very important to mobilize the community and participate directly in the efforts to prevent and control HIV-AIDS (P2 HIV-AIDS).

This was stated by the Chair of the Bandung City PKK who is also the Chair of the Bandung City AIDS Commission (KPA) Community Empowerment Working Group, Yunimar Mulyana when he was a resource person for the 2022 District AIDS Care Residents Training at the Atlantic City Hotel, 27 September 2022.

The training activity was attended by WPA from 30 sub-districts in the city of Bandung.

According to Yunimar, WPA also plays an important role in assisting people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in their environment.

In addition, encouraging behavioral changes in people who have the potential to be infected with the virus by always campaigning for a healthy lifestyle.

"They must be embraced, the disease must be avoided, not the person, the active role of sub-district and sub-district wpa in order to get maximum treatment by cooperating with puskesmas and KPA," he said.

Cumulatively, from 1991 to 2021, it was recorded that 5,843 residents of Bandung City had been caught and became HIV/AIDS survivors.

However, the screening process is still being carried out so that survivors who have not been caught can be immediately caught and treated (treated).

For this reason, Yunimar encourages WPA to be more active in providing education and information related to HIV/AIDS in their respective areas.

"More often hold meetings with influencers who are involved in disseminating education and information to the public. So that everyone moves to make education and information on HIV/AIDS more effective," he said.

Yunimar also thanked the WPA Sub-district for the continuous contribution to HIV/AIDS prevention and control.
