Supporting Zakat Management, the Mayor of Bandung Receives the 2023 Baznas Award

The award was given to Yana at the Baznas Award event at the Grand Sahid Hotel Jakarta, Tuesday, 21 March 2023. "Thank you for this award. So far the Bandung City Government and Baznas have always collaborated on a number of programs," said Yana after receiving the award. As is known, Yana has always supported Baznas activities. This includes supporting a number of innovations initiated by the central Baznas and the City of Bandung. When the Bandung City Baznas launched the Love Zakat Movement on April 27 2022, Yana supported it by holding an event at the Bandung City Hall. Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Indonesian Baznas, Prof. Noor Achmad said that the Baznas Award is an effort to appreciate zakat activities in Indonesia. Noor thanked the President and Vice President of Indonesia who had participated in socializing zakat to various regions and places, resulting in an increase of 30 to 35 percent in zakat. Noor also explained, for this year, BAZNAS carries the tagline "Blessings of Zakat, Thank You Muzaki and Thank You Mustahik". "Because it turns out that during the Covid-19 pandemic we were able to provide assistance to the community. That is what we call the blessing of zakat," he said. According to Noor, during the Covid-19 pandemic, the increase in people's spending and giving alms was so extraordinary, that the figure exceeded 40 percent, and mostly among young people. "We express our gratitude to the muzakis throughout Indonesia. Their zakat, infaq and alms are eagerly awaited by people in need. If we increase zakat together, we can eradicate extreme poverty in Indonesia," he said.
