Yana: Achievement Must Be Coupled with Sportsmanship
Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana asked the Bandung City Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) to continue to produce achievements. Nevertheless, the Bandung City KONI must also uphold sportsmanship.
"In the implementation of multi-events such as Porprov, sportsmanship must be prioritized. So we hope through KONI that during Porprov, achievement will be prioritized over the prestige of the host," said Yana during the inauguration of the Bandung City KONI Management for the 2023-2027 period, at the Bandung City Hall, Wednesday 29 March 2023.
He believes athletes and all sports policy stakeholders in the city of Bandung are always sporty when they win in every event.
"I hope that in future activities, the city of Bandung will be able to produce the best. This will increase our enthusiasm to train athletes. Because I also know the heads of sports carry out coaching through competitions and so on," said Yana.
Meanwhile, General Chairperson of the Bandung City KONI for the 2023-2027 period, Nuryadi ensured that he consistently prioritized athlete development to achieve achievements.
"We will consistently help the Bandung City Government. Consistently foster and get achievements in the field of sports," he said.
He said the closest activity was coaching athletes. There are a number of sports agendas that will be faced in the near future.
According to him, competition is one of the aspects to guide the talent of the superior candidates to become the best athletes. For this reason, the Bandung City KONI will hold a number of Bandung Mayor's Cup tournaments.
"This year's target is holding competitions or championships in 40 sports. This year, only 2 sports are implementing it," he said.
Meanwhile, the general chairman of the West Java Provincial KONI, Muhammad Budiana said, the city of Bandung has advantages compared to other regions. For this reason, consistent coaching is needed to produce outstanding athletes.
"After this Eid there will be the SEA Games in Cambodia. There will be athletes from the city of Bandung in the Indonesian contingent. Hopefully they can achieve the best achievements," he said. (yan)**
