Bandung City PPDB Begins, Transparent Application Don't Trust Brokers

Secretary of the Bandung City Education Service, Tantan Syurya Santana, said that the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) is committed to serving education for the community.

"The Bandung City Government is committed to all children having to go to school. There are no longer favorite schools, they are all the same. Because the zoning system brings people's access to educational units closer," explained Tantan at the Bandung Answering activity at Bandung City Hall, Wednesday 22 May 2024.

He revealed that the quota for entering elementary and middle school was sufficient. For elementary schools, there are 272 state elementary schools and 187 private elementary schools. Meanwhile, there are around 34,000 elementary school students who will continue to junior high school.
There are 272 junior high schools consisting of 75 public junior high schools and 197 private junior high schools.

"If you look at the kindergarten graduates who will enter elementary school aged 6-7 years, they can all enter. Both public and private. There are 272 public elementary schools in Bandung City and 187 private schools, this is enough if you count age," he explained.

For residents who cannot afford it, the Bandung City Government has prepared efforts to continue their education through a budget for students prone to continuing education (RMP).

"For underprivileged residents, we provide channels. If options 1 and 2 are not accepted, we will use options 3 and 4 or private channels. This has been budgeted for by the Bandung City Government," he explained.

During the PPBD process, the Bandung City Education Office transparently opens it via the official application or website. Applicants can see directly the student admission process.

"Trust in the system we have used, transparency. Usually in situations like this, many people take advantage. If someone asks for something in return, don't respond," stressed Tantan.
