Learning the History of World War II through Askara Amerta Exhibition

The Committee of Peringatan Bersama Belanda – Indonesia, simply translates to the memorial with Netherlands – Indonesia, with Oorlogs Glaven Stichting held a picture exhibition in Ereveld Pandu cemetery. This exhibition was held as the 74th anniversary of the opening of Ereveld Pandu.

The Dutch-Indonesian Joint Commemoration Committee with Oorlogs Glaven Stichting held a photo exhibition at the Ereveld Pandu Cemetery. This exhibition was held to celebrate the 74th anniversary of the inauguration of Ereveld Pandu.

There are 15 photos displayed in this exhibition. A total of 15 photos show dramatic black and white nuances.

For information, Ereveld Pandu is an honorary funeral for victims of World War II. In this cemetery, there are 4,000 names with 3,800 written headstones from Dutch and Indonesian citizens who were victims of World War II.

“On Ereveld Pandu's birthday, we try to explain the history of Ereveld Pandu. These photos can express because photos are more than words," said Director Indonesia at Oorlogs Graven Stichting, Eveline c De Vink, Monday, March 7, 2022.

The exhibition opens on Monday 7 March 2022 and runs throughout the month of March.

Opened to the public, the public, especially residents of Bandung City, are allowed to visit this exhibition every day from 07.00 WIB to 17.00 WIB.

"This is the first exhibition that we are holding to commemorate the inauguration of Ereveld Pandu," added Eveline.

This exhibition involves Mataholang Officiel and Project Sesama as collaborators.

In the same place, the Supervisor of Ereveld Pandu, Dicky Purwadi, informed the people of Bandung City to attend this exhibition together to learn Indonesian history together.

“This honorary Dutch funeral is like a reminder, don't let another war happen. If it happens again, yes, these are the victims,” said Dicky.

He also reminded visitors to maintain ethics and health protocols when visiting exhibitions or Ereveld Pandu.

Ethics when visiting Ereveld include coordinating with the Ereveld manager if visitors want to take pictures of the burial area. In addition, visitors are also expected to maintain cleanliness while visiting Ereveld. (ray)**
