The night on Monday, 28 March 2022, was an anticipated moment by athletes of Bandung City. In the Tribute to High-Performing Athletes in the National Weeks of Sports (PON) XX and the Weeks of National Paralimpiade (Peparnas) XVI 2021, they were given the second phase of Kadeudeuh reward by the Bandung City Government.

The Kadeudeuh with the total of Rp16 billion was given to the athletes of Bandung City who had competed and received achievements in PON XX and Peparnas XVI Papua. The reward was directly given to the bank accounts of the athletes through the ATM Bandung Juara card from BJB Bank.

“Bandung City successfully contributes for 30% of athletes for West Java contingent in PON. And 33% of our athletes won gold medals for West Java,” said the Acting Mayor of Bandung City, Yana Mulyana.

Looking at those achievements, Yana said that this was the evidence that Bandung City had been fostering its athletes well.

He was optimistic that this year, if Asian Games, Sea Games, the Provincial Sports Week (Porprov), and the Provincial Paralympic Weeks (Peparprov) were held, athletes of Bandung City could win the general champions.

“We encourage the athletes to keep joining sports starting from regional, national, even to international ones. Looking at their potentials, hopefully, in porprov and peparprov, we will be the general champions,” he said.

Yana stated that the Bandung City Government had prepared the budget for bonus for the high-performing athletes in the upcoming Porprov and Peparprov.

“For the budget, currently, we entrusted it to KONI and National Paralympic Committee Indonesia (NPCI) in a form of grant. Hopefully, this could be a form of care from us that can be used wisely,” Yana said

This Kadeudeuh reward is not only for athletes who have achieved medals. The Head of Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora) of Bandung City, Eddy Marwoto, said that it was also given to athletes who had not achieved medals in the last year’s PON or Peparnas.

“The total reward we give them is Rp16 billion for both athletes who are achieving medals and who are not. The amount differs for each category. However, for non-medal athletes, we give Rp5 million,” Eddy said.

The amount of the rewards given to the athletes differed. The biggest amount was given to athletes who won gold medals with each receiving Rp65 million.

Next, doubles team received Rp45 million. Then, teams of 3-5 people received Rp40 million. The coaches, managers, mechanicians, monev teams, and referees also received the Kadeudeuh reward.

Eddy said that West Java’s achievements of winning the general champion title in PON XX and runner up in Peparnas XVI was inseparable with Bandung City’s contributions who had contributed with the most athletes for West Java.

“Therefore, besides Kadeudeuh, we also give health insurance for a year to the athletes, coaches, and all people involved in sports of Bandung City to provide them with feelings of comfort when they practice and compete. This insurance has been consistently gifted since 2018,” he said.

On this occasion, Eddy also gave an achievement for the deceased Oded M. Danial as the Father of Sports of Bandung City.

“We give this appreciation as a form of his services concerned with athletes of Bandung City,” he said. (din)*
