The most recent data on Covid-19 confirmed cases released on Tuesday, 5 April 2022 on covid19.bandung.go.id show only three cases. The slope kept happening during this Ramadan week.

The Head of Disease Prevention and Control of the Health Agency (Dinkes) of Bandung City, dr. Rosye Arosdiani Apip said that, since 31 March 2022, confirmed cases per day were already fewer than 100 cases.

“Although it fluctuates, from 30 to 60 and the next day decreases to 40, hopefully it just gets better,” Rosye said on Thursday, 7 April 2022.

Despite being fluctuated, the cases tend to decrease significantly compared to previous weeks.

Rosye explained weekly calculations of epidemiology stating that in the eight week confirmed cases in Bandung reached 10.062 in a week.

Then, the next week reached 7.137 confirmed cases. Next, in the tenth week, there were 5.592 confirmed cases.

In the eleventh week, there were 2.677 cases. And lastly, in the twelfth week, there were 1.449 confirmed cases per week.

“This week, during this Ramadan, there have only been 628 confirmed cases but this is not done yet. My calculation usually starts from Monday-Sunday. Hopefully, it is fewer compared to previous weeks,” she said.

Although confirmed cases are declining and hospitals are also not seen full of Covid-19 patients, Rosye stressed the importance of staying alert.

“We are still in the pandemic and at level 2. This means that there are still restrictions. Keep complying with health protocols so everything we have protected and worked together can make Covid cases in Bandung City keep declining,” she said.

It is because there is still a possibility that if we are ignoring health protocols, Covid-19 will once again increase in Bandung City.

Additionally, Rosye said that to avoid severe diseases when infected with Covid, immediately vaccinate yourself.

“Because it has been proven that vaccination can prevent severe diseases. Most cases, over 70% of Covid-19 patients who died in Bandung City were not vaccinated and had comorbid,” Rosye said.

She said that, currently, booster vaccination in Bandung City had reached 24% with the target of 30% according to the presidential instruction.

Another aspect that needs to be considered to prevent Covid-19 infection, Rosye believed, is maintaining the immune system. Look for healthy lifestyles, not only controlling what to eat but also other lifestyles.

“As for food, drink more mineral water. Then, try to eat real food, not junk food. Eat more vegetables, fruits, protein, and carbohydrate and do not forget limit sugar, salt, and fat,” she asked.

Additionally, Rosye highlighted the importance of maintaining body stamina by staying active. Do not let Ramadan make you lazy.

“Because only controlling what you eat and not with what you do (activities) will not bring perfect results. You can perform light exercises, such as walking in the morning or evening before iftar. Or indoor exercise such as workout in home,” she said.

“Exercises can also be performed at night. We have no excuses to remain inactive because by staying active, our heart can pump blood and make it circulate well,” Rosye said

Sunbathing is also a suggested activity daily perform at morning. It is because ultraviolet light from the sun can change pro vitamin D to vitamin D that is quite vital in our body.

Psychological condition also needs to be considered because we are vulnerable to diseases if our psyche is not in a good condition.

“Do not be stressed out and do rest well. Because all of this will improve our immune system,” she said. (din)**
