The Communication Agency (Dishub) of Bandung City once again performed a safety inspection (ramp check) in Cicaheum Terminal, Thursday, 14 April 2022. The inspection showed that some buses were not roadworthy and not able to be operated.

The Acting Head of Transportation Safety and Discipline of the Communication Agency (Dishub) of Bandung City, Asep Kuswara, said that there were many buses not equipped with documents.

“Roadworthy depends on document equipment, starting from vehicle registrations, driving license, supervision letter (trayek), and all of them cover 11 items and they are highly required,” Asep said.

The roadworthy and operation inspection was carried out on small and big buses. Asep said that for all buses that were not roadworthy and not able to be operated would be prohibited from operating.

“Although there are some operable buses, if they are not roadworthy, they will be prohibited from operating. We will issue a warning,” he said.

Additionally, he said that one of the challenges that must be addressed is picking up passengers outside the terminal. To prevent this, Dishub will be collaborating with Polrestabes Bandung in performing a supervision in several posts.

“Buses picking up passengers outside the terminal will cause uncontrollability in terms of their vaccination requirements. So, we collaborate with the police to supervise in posts, determining whether or not there are passengers boarding outside the terminal,” he said.

For big vehicles, such as patas (cepat and terbatas that simply translates to fast and limited), he said that they would provide posts equipped with a code from the peduli lindungi app.

“For example, Budiman Bus serves passengers boarding in Cibiru. We will conduct a supervision there. We focus on two things: safety and health,” Asep said.

There are two locations in which there will be a strict supervision, namely: Cibiru and Pasir Koja as the gates to enter and exit Bandung City.

To address the accumulating mudik travellers, Dishub of Bandung City will provide 7.400 seat. On average, every bus is limited to board 50 people.

“638 buses per day on average in two terminals. This does not necessarily mean that those 600 buses will depart every day since we are mobile. So, not all of them will be operating all at once, but they also act as a backup,” he emphasized.

Asep said that mudik during the pandemic would result in more required procedures, in addition to roadworthy and operationalizability. Health protocol equipment in every bus is also a matter that will be highly taken into account in the incoming mudik.

“Hand sanitizer availability in buses and drivers’ condition are ensured to be tested negative of Covid-19. They must be vaccinated, at least, with the second dose. If possible, with a booster,” he said. (din)**
