During the 2021 pandemic, according to the prevalence survey of the Bandung City National Narcotics Agency (BNN), drug abuse in Bandung City has increased. From the original 1.80 percent in 2019, it will increase to 1.95 percent in 2021 in the user age range of 15-64 years.

To reduce this number, the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) together with the Bandung City BNN have made various efforts. One of them is through outreach to schools and providing a 'shining' place (cleaning drugs) in public spaces.

"For the first 'shining' location, we inaugurated it at Panata Yuda Park. This is our endeavor in tackling drug trafficking, which during the Covid-19 era actually increased its circulation in the city of Bandung," said the Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana after visiting Panata Yuda Park, Wednesday, June 15, 2022.

In fact, Yana suspects that this figure is actually just the 'tip of the iceberg'. It is feared that if you look deeper, the numbers could be higher than recorded.

"It could be users that we have not been able to data, it has the potential to damage the future of our sons and daughters," he continued.

Therefore, he said, at least the Bandung City Government would make other 'shining' locations in 30 sub-districts. This step is a form of effort to suppress drug trafficking in the city of Bandung.

"We will use this place as a socialization location for the prevention of the eradication of drug abuse and illicit trafficking (P4GN). Hopefully, from here we can also create programs that can eliminate drug trafficking," he said.

In order to keep Panata Yuda Park functioning as expected, Yana said, she will assign the heads of sub-districts and lurahs, as well as regional colleagues to take care of this place.

"This park has just become a shining garden. We also have Kampung Bersinar at 11 points. We are targeting to have it in all sub-districts," he added.

During this inauguration, there was also a mobile service car for the issuance of a Narcotics Examination Result Certificate (SKHPN). The mobile SKHPN in the city of Bandung is the first in West Java.

Meanwhile, the Head of Bandung City BNN, Kombes Pol. Mada Roostanto said that the presence of this mobile SKHPN is a form of service to the public to make it easier for the community.

"SKHPN is needed as a requirement to apply for jobs, education, certification, and other needs. The cost is IDR 290 thousand," explained Mada.

The SKHPN service itself continued Mada, can be accessed at three locations, including the Bandung City BNN Clinic, the Public Service Mall, and mobile SKHPN cars.

In addition, the Panata Yuda Park is also equipped with a library and discussion room that can be used by the community. (din)*
