To prevent the spread of Nail and Mouth Disease (PMK), the Bandung City Government continues to vaccinate livestock.

This time, the vaccination was carried out in Sukaraja Village, Cicendo District, Wednesday 29 June 2022.

This vaccination targets 10 cows in that location. After previously vaccinating in Babakan Ciparay as many as 66 cows and in Arcamanik District as many as 2 cows. So that a total of 78 cows have been vaccinated from a total of 200 vaccines given throughout the city of Bandung.

The Regional Secretary for the City of Bandung, Ema Sumarna said that this vaccination was an effort to prevent FMD and could convince the public that the animals were healthy and fit.

“We continue to use a priority approach in livestock so that there is no longer any doubt that the animal is really healthy. We give confidence that the animal is worthy,” said Ema.

Ema said the animals examined at the location were in good and proper condition.

"Everyone here is healthy, there was calf, beef and limousine," said Ema.

Regarding the number of vaccines, Ema admitted that it was still not ideal. He said the vaccination quota was the authority of the central and provincial governments.

"From this ideal requirement, it is still far away, because in Bandung there are thousands of cows. We still use the priority approach," he said.

"We are trying to ask for additional, if we talk about our needs, this is still lacking. With more doses, the reach of the vaccine is wider," he continued.

Ema advised the breeders to be open to the public about the health of their animals. In addition, the application of a healthy lifestyle in the livestock environment needs to be done properly.

"Improve a healthy lifestyle in the livestock environment, always apply disinfectant spraying so that the health aspect is maintained," he said.

Ema also assured the public that animals in the city of Bandung deserve to be bought and consumed.

"People should not hesitate, we will try our best to make the animals in Bandung City healthy and fit to be bought and consumed," said Ema.

For information, for cows that will be used as sacrificial animals that have passed the inspection process will be given a scanner mark (barcode) to declare their health.

The barcode contains the history of the sacrificial animal that will be sold which can be accessed through the e-safe application.

Meanwhile, the owner of the Livestock in Cicendo, Ade Anwar, said the cows in the pen were in good health and had never been exposed to FMD.

Ade said that he farmed 14 cows. He hopes that the government will continue to vaccinate animals so that livestock can avoid FMD.

"Alhamdulillah, we have never been exposed to PMK. Hopefully vaccinations like this will continue to be carried out, so that no more animals are affected (PMK disease)," he said. (rob)*
