Golden Island Exhibition, Commemorating 22 Years of Artist Ropih's Work
The gold color symbolizes the desire and prayer to reach the golden age or success, and symbolizes the spiritual journey to the Creator.The philosophy of the painting artist, Ropih Amantubillah, was raised in the “Pulau Emas” Painting Exhibition Commemorating 22 years of Ropih's Work, which will be held at the Ropih Art Gallery, Jalan Braga, Bandung City, from Sunday 7 August to 28 August 2022.
The Golden Island exhibition, which was held to commemorate the 22 years of Ropih's work and the 100th day of the death of the famous Bandung city artist, featured approximately 30 paintings by Ropih Amantubillah from 2002 to 2017.
The curator of the Golden Island Exhibition, Rahmat Jabaril, said that the Golden Island theme was taken from the concept of the golden island, which has become Ropi Amantubillah's ideological reference in art.
"The island of gold is not interpreted literally, but the island of gold is how we uphold the understanding of human identity," he said when met by Public Relations of Bandung City at the opening of the Exhibition, Sunday, August 7, 2022.
He said the Golden Island exhibition was not just a display of paintings but also gave a message about the way of human life to achieve peace and tranquility in life.
"There is something conveyed by Abah (Ropih Amantubillah) related to the way of life of mankind. It is important for the younger generation to see this work, how to achieve peace and tranquility in life," he said.
Furthermore, Rahmat said, of the 30 paintings on display, there were various styles of painting.
"We choose several styles, some are realist, some are abstract, some are symbolic, showing that you are a creative person who is not stuck in a certain style," he said.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Bandung City Culture and Tourism Office (Disbudpar), Nuzrul Irwan Irawan, appreciated the solo exhibition of Pulau Emas by Abah Ropih.
"We really appreciate this exhibition in commemoration of 22 years of his work. The thing that must be followed is leaving the cultural spirit to achieve the nation's ideals of building creative and noble human beings," he said while attending the exhibition.
He hopes that this exhibition can increase tourism in the city of Bandung, especially in the Braga area
"We really appreciate this painting exhibition. This exhibition can be a tourist attraction in the city of Bandung, especially in the Braga area," he said.
Irwan also invited all Bandung residents to come to attend the Golden Island exhibition which will continue until August 28.
"This is an extraordinary exhibition because of that. For that I invite the whole community to come to enjoy the monumental works of Bandung artist Abah Ropih," he said. (rob)**
