Elizabeth in Bandung is certainly not the Queen of England but ice cendol which is located on Jalan Inhoftank No. 64. Elizabeth Cendol is a traditional drink made from rice flour with a distinctive green color.

Cendol Elizabeth is one of the famous drinks in Bandung since decades ago.

Since 1972, H. Rohman, the founder of Es Cendol Elizabeth, has started selling Es Cendol around using a cart. At that time he was still living in a rented house on Jalan Lio Genteng, Astanaanyar, he went around selling his wares to Dago and Cihampelas.

Every time he comes home selling Rohman, he passes through Jalan Otista (Jalan Otto Iskandar Dinata). There is the house of Eli's mother, who is his cendol subscription. Until finally he started selling in front of Eli's house.

At that time, Eli's sister worked in a bag shop. Seeing Rohman often selling in front of his house using a cart, Eli also wanted to leave his reject bag to Rohman to sell.

Until finally Eli's house became a bag shop and there was a sign for Elizabeth's bag shop, Rohman was still selling cendol ice.

When someone ordered cendol, Rohman, who was not fluent in reading and writing, asked Eli to write down his order. Eli, who often wrote orders for cendol using Elizabeth's receipt, suggested that the name of the cendol should also be Cendol Elizabeth. This is the origin of the name Cendol Elizabeth.

Until finally, Rohman decided to move to Jalan Inhoftank, and still sells in front of Elizabeth's bag shop. However, due to the large number of buyers, when selling there they often run out of materials, until finally many buyers come directly to the place of production on Jalan Inhoftank.

The government also made a regulation on the prohibition zone for street vendors (PKL), Es Cendol Elizabeth is actually not in the sidewalk area but is still in the Elizabeth bag shop area. However, Es Cendol Elizabeth was the pioneer of street vendors on Jalan Otista at that time. so Rohman decided to move, because otherwise other traders wouldn't want to move.

Until around 1998, the Es Cendol Elizabeth Center was built at Jalan Inhoftank No. 64.

In addition to selling ice cendol, Es Cendol Elizabeth also sells ice goyobood. The origin of selling goyobod started with Eli who liked to make goyobod, at that time he was lazy so he asked Rohman for help to make goyobod.

Nur Hidayah, the son of H Rohman, said that his father was a diligent person.

Previously, Es Cendol Elizabeth had opened a stand at Ciwalk. But according to Nur, at that time if only selling cendol was not covered by the cost, then goyobod ice was made. Because the Ciwalk booth has added a goyobod menu, finally in 2001 the goyobod menu was added to the store.

Nur said, Currently Es Cendol Elizabeth only has branches in Tasikmalaya City, Majalaya, and distributes it to supermarkets. Meanwhile, the traders who sell on the streets are not part of Es Cendol Elizabeth.

Es Cendol Elizabeth Center is open every day at 09.00-17.00 WIB. The price of cendol per large pack is IDR 22,000 while the goyobod per large pack is IDR 32,000. (riyan/sinta)**
