"High population density is closely related to residential density as well as in the city of Bandung. With this dense population, it triggers various social problems, including fires and other disasters in households," explained the Head of the Bandung City PKK TP, Yunimar Mulyana at the Pendopo Bandung City, Thursday 29 September 2022.

Yunimar really hopes that disaster will not be present in the city of Bandung. However, preparedness must be developed to minimize the risk of a disaster if it occurs.

"This program is a central government program. PKK takes on a role to raise awareness. The goal is for people to have insight on how to avoid disasters caused in their households," Yunimar explained.

In the same place, Bandung City Government and Welfare Assistant, Asep Gufron explained that the event was to increase residents' awareness of disasters.

"This is not attached to the responsibility of the PB Diskar (Fire and Disaster Management Service) but there are things that need to be educated to the whole community, at least they can detect it so that the community is able to play a role," he said.

"Later, there will be training on how to handle fires, preventing early action by the community, the community can do. If a disaster occurs, it can be anticipated, so it doesn't get bigger, so when a fire is small, people already understand how to extinguish it, it's better," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Bandung City Disaster Management Office, Gun Gun Sumaryana, explained that the City of Bandung became a pilot project related to environmental fire alerts.

"We are increasing collaboration, not only handling but how to prevent fires from happening," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of Family and Environmental Health Division IV at the TP PKK West Java Province, Siska Gerfianti said, in West Java province there are 14 urban districts that have implemented Disaster Response from 27 urban districts throughout West Java Province.

"Today, 14 of the 27 regencies in West Java, including the city of Bandung, have carried out this activity. The remaining 13 areas will be implemented in the near future," he said.

He explained that the city of Bandung was chosen as a pilot project as an environmental fire alert.

"This is seen in the city of Bandung when fires occur in the environment very quickly. Also, OPD collaboration in disaster management is ready," he said.(yan)**
