The Bandung City PB Diskar Rescue Forces Continue to Help Evacuate Cianjur Earthquake Victims

The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) dispatched 18 members of the Search, Rescue and Evacuation (Rescue) Department of the Fire and Disaster Management Agency (Diskar PB) to assist in the search for earthquake victims in Cianjur Regency.

Head of the Bandung City Disaster Management Agency, Gungun Sumaryana, said that the Bandung City rescue team was searching for victims in the Jambudipa area, Warung Kondang Cianjur.

In addition, on Monday, November 21, 2022, the Bandung City rescue team also brought 10,000 plastic bags, 100 sheets of plastic tarpaulin and 100 blankets for earthquake victims.

"We are also working with BPBD of West Java Province, yesterday we focused on personnel assistance for rescue and evacuation of victims," ​​Gungun told Public Relations Bendung, Thursday, November 24, 2022.

Gungun said that the Bandung City rescue team managed to evacuate three victims who were found safe in the Jambudipa area, Warung Kondang Cianjur.

"Alhamdulillah, our rescue team together with Purwakarta and Bandung districts were able to save three people who were found with injuries," he said.

According to Gungun, the evacuation process for the three victims also involved the surrounding community.

While one other victim, said Gungun, was found on Wednesday afternoon (23 November 2022), already dead.

Gungun said that the search for the last victim at the location of the Diskar PB rescue team took a little time.

"The search for the last victim took quite a long time because of the three-story building and piled-up material from the ruins of the walls," he said.

After serving for two days at Warungkondang, Gungun continued, all rescue troops had been withdrawn back to Bandung, Wednesday night to change assignments with others.

However, Gungun continued, if the Cianjur earthquake disaster management post is in need again, the Bandung City Diskar PB rescue team is ready to be deployed to another evacuation point.

"Our troops temporarily returned to Bandung after serving in search and rescue for two days. Later, another team will fly to Cianjur if needed," he said.

He said, based on an assessment in the field, the victims of the current earthquake were in dire need of clean water, medicines and ready-to-eat food.
