Bandung City Government Presents an Inclusive Environment Without Discrimination

The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) continues to strive to create an inclusive environment that provides equal opportunities for the community to participate fully without discrimination.

For this reason, Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana invites stakeholders and the public to pay more attention to and solve problems faced by persons with disabilities.

"Let's provide support to increase the dignity, rights and welfare of persons with disabilities," said the Assistant for Government and People's Welfare, Asep Saeful Gufron when reading the written remarks of the Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana at the Commemoration of International Day of Disabilities (HDI) Bandung City Level at Balai City, Saturday December 3, 2022.

He believes that people with disabilities in the city of Bandung have the same enthusiasm as other residents to participate in development.

"This belief is not without reason, because we see the desire of people with disabilities to be able to prosper themselves and their environment without depending on others," he said.

He hopes that people with disabilities can also be part of working hand in hand to build the city of Bandung.

"We certainly welcome this role to work hand in hand to build the city of Bandung and improve the welfare of its citizens more broadly," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Bandung City Social Service, Soni Bakhtiyar said, the Bandung City Government continues to present various policies and programs to fulfill the rights of Persons with Disabilities

"It turns out that the city government is also not silent. We already have a regional regulation on fulfilling the right to disability," said Soni.

"For that, we have to follow up through the Mayor's Regulation which provides affirmation on how to protect and also provide equal rights to citizens with disabilities," he added.

In the 2022 HDI commemoration series, an MoU was signed between the Bandung City Government and the business world to provide work opportunities for persons with disabilities.

In addition, a joint declaration on the fulfillment of the rights of persons with disabilities was held, a Pentahelix collaboration between OPD, the public, academics, media, companies and other stakeholders.

"The joint signing will make the city of Bandung inclusive of disabilities," he said.

Currently, persons with disabilities are also given space to be actively involved in the provision of government goods and services.

"There are providers of service goods that have appeared from friends with disabilities who have entered the e-catalog of the City of Bandung," he said.

In the same place, the Bandung City Government also held a job fair to provide employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

"We also have health checks and free counseling, then make population administration for citizens with disabilities, there are free massages," he said.

The Bandung City Government also provides awards and assistance to stakeholders who are involved in various programs for persons with disabilities in the city of Bandung.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of Community-Based Rehabilitation (RBM) for the City of Bandung, Yunimar Mulyana, admitted that he continues to update data and conduct regular assessments of disabilities.

In addition, RBM also comes with various programs. Among them are referral hospitals and specialist doctors, infrastructure for disabilities, facilities for disabilities and population administration services for people with disabilities.

"We continue to provide even more services. We are trying to provide assistance in the form of the equipment needed," he said. (rob)**
