This was conveyed by Mayor of Bandung Yana Mulyana at a virtual Inflation Control Coordination Meeting at the Bandung City Hall, Tuesday 24 January 2023.

This adjustment to drinking water service rates contributed to the highest inflation in December 2022 in the city of Bandung at 1.77 percent. In 2022 inflation in the city of Bandung will reach 7.54 percent.

For this reason, Yana said that he would issue a Decree from the Mayor of Bandung (Kepwal) delaying the tariff adjustment for Drinking Water and Wastewater Services.

"In the near future we will prepare a tariff postponement policy," he said.

Apart from drinking water rates, several commodities contributing to monthly inflation in the city of Bandung are red onions, raw tofu, rice and red chilies.

On this occasion, Yana also explained various programs from the Bandung City Government in an effort to control regional inflation.

"In 2023, several concrete things will be carried out, as in 2022 we will carry out market and bazaar operations in 30 sub-districts and in 151 urban villages in collaboration with the PKK," he said.

"We are doing creative markets in collaboration with 7 malls and holding 10 low-cost markets," he added.

In addition, monitoring the prices of various commodities every week in traditional markets and modern markets as well as coordinating and communicating with food distributors.

Not only that, to fulfill its own food needs, the City of Bandung has promoted the Hurry SAE program.

"Thank God, a week ago we harvested 1.5 tons of shallots in 16 sub-districts. We were also assisted by Bank Indonesia to procure the seeds, Baznas for financial assistance and Kadin to absorb the harvest," he said.

Yana hopes that these various efforts can reduce the inflation rate in the city of Bandung in the first quarter of 2023.

"We will increase it in 2023 to reduce inflation and increase people's purchasing power," he said. (rob)**
