The Number of Voters in the City of Bandung Increases by 170,000 People

The PPS will be assigned to 151 sub-districts throughout the city of Bandung with 150 organizers at the sub-district level spread over 30 sub-districts. As well as the secretariat of the District Election Committee (PPK) of 90 people in 30 sub-districts.

The Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana, who was also present at the inauguration, said that officers should not take sides and KKN against politicians competing in the upcoming 2024 event.

"I'm sure my friends will carry out this task as well as possible and be given health. The quality of the democratic process is largely determined by the organizers," said Yana.

He hopes, in the 2024 election event, the level of participation in the democratic process in the city of Bandung can increase. The target is voter turnout to reach above 90 percent.

"Compared to the previous 87 percent, next year there should be more. The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) always supports it, including the infrastructure," he said.

In fact, he added, the Bandung City Government has also provided insurance for officers if it turns out that there is a risk that occurs while working.

"We also provide insurance for all of our friends. Camat and lurah please help with the work of these friends, so that it can run safely and smoothly. It can give birth to a better electoral democratic process," he hoped.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Bandung City KPU, Suharti explained, preparations for the 2024 elections had started since June 14, 2022.

"Currently, one-third of the way through the stages has been passed. Election organizers in the city of Bandung are ready to be at the forefront of the success of the 2024 elections," said Suharti.

In addition to preparing organizers at the sub-district level, PPK secretariat, and PPS, the Bandung City Election Commission is also preparing to form a Voter Registration Committee (pantarlih).

"On January 26-30 2023, the Bandung City KPU will carry out the next stage, namely the formation of a Pantarlih totaling 7,524 people," he explained.

In addition, the determination of political parties (political parties) has also been carried out. A total of 18 political parties have been determined to participate in the 2024 election.

"Next year, the target of voters can reach 90 percent compared to 2019. Even though it exceeds the target from the center, which is 87 percent, in 2024 it must be better, of better quality and with integrity," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Sosparmas and HR Division at the Bandung City KPU, Ahmad Nur Hidayat explained that the selection of an ad hoc team had also been carried out. Selection started from the district level with a total of 1,315 applicants.

"The number of potential voters in 2024 will reach 1,893,082. This number has increased by around 170,000 from 2019. So we really have to maximize it," said Ahmad. (din)**
