Babakan Ciparay Tourism Village: Learning the Manufacturing Process to Know History

The city of Bandung now has a Tofu Tourism Village in RW 5, Babakan Village, Babakan Ciparay District. Visitors who come can witness the production process of yellow tofu firsthand and learn its history.

Visitors can also ask questions about the process of making takwa tofu with employees and tofu business owners.

Head of Babakan Ciparay sub-district, Suparjo said, the tofu craftsmen had been given training starting from cleaning, production to receiving guests.

"Now it has been initiated and there is training on how to guide tofu factory employees about cleanliness and processing of tofu," he said in the Ngariung Potential for Regional Podcast in Babakan Ciparay District, Tuesday 7 February 2023.

"Visitors see the processing and history of tofu. We will introduce tofu as a new tourist destination, because the location is not far from the Pasirkoja toll road," he added.

Apart from training, continued Suparjo, Kampung Wisata Tahu also prepared lodging for visitors.

"We are preparing homestays for those who want to stay. We have prepared the details. Including training to receive guests, so they feel comfortable," he said.

Apart from making tofu, there are also those who make preparations from tofu. There are fried tofu, crispy tofu, tofu sticks and snacks made from tofu.

"We have also prepared a jongko to showcase various tofu products, from chips, fried tofu, and others," he said.

In the Tahu Tourism Village, there are more than 200 tofu craftsmen. Most of this profession is passed down from generation to generation by their families who have become tofu makers.

However, there are also residents who have started a business to make tofu.

Suparjo said, for people who want to travel, they can contact the local sub-district and RW.
