For this achievement, Bandung Mayor Yana Mulyana said the Bandung City Government is committed to continuing to present a superior, comfortable, prosperous and religious Bandung for all its citizens.

"Hopefully this achievement can be additional energy, encouragement to continue to innovate in optimizing the potential and productivity of the city of Bandung," he said.

Bandung City outperformed Bekasi City with an index of 3.46 and Bogor City with an index of 3.42.

For information, the Regional Competitiveness Index (IDSD) is an instrument for measuring competitiveness at the provincial and district/city levels conducted by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).

Deputy for Research and Innovation Policy at BRIN Boediastoeti Ontowirjo said IDSD aims to obtain a comprehensive measure of regional competitiveness, which reflects the level of regional productivity.

He said IDSD 2022 adopted the 2019 Global Competitiveness Index (GCI) measurement framework from the World Economic Forum (WEF), which was adapted to the regional context in Indonesia.

“First, we develop a conceptual framework. We use GCI as a reference, which consists of four components and 12 pillars," said Boediastoeti, at the Technical Coordination Meeting (Rakortek) of the Regional Research and Innovation Agency (Brida), Tuesday 7 February 2023.

With this framework, continued Boediastoeti, IDSD 2022 at the provincial and district/city levels is aligned with the national GCI, so that global stakeholders can use it to measure GCI for Indonesia.

"Every year, we will continue to perfect IDSD, at the national level we will publish it. Thus, there will be three levels later, namely the national, provincial and district/city levels," he explained.

He further revealed that the 2022 IDSD national score was 3.36. The national score is the average IDSD score for all provinces.

"We emphasize here, yes, this is data, not a ranking," he said. (ray)**
