Promoting Cheap Food, Collaborative Efforts to Reduce Price Increases Ahead of Ramadan

At this Cheap Food Event, the Bandung City Government collaborated with Bulog, the National Food Agency, West Java Archipelago Folk Culture, the Indonesian Trade Company.

The program for Cheap Food was enthusiastically welcomed by the residents. One of them, Tita (50), a resident of Cibeunying Kidul, Bandung City. He felt helped by the existence of this bargain market.

He was seen shopping for eggs, rice and cooking oil for food availability at his home.

“The queue is not too long and the price is cheap. The difference can be up to IDR 3,000,” he explained.

He hopes that the prices of basic necessities will continue to be maintained and stable when entering the month of Ramadan and also entering Eid al-Fitr.

"From fasting to Eid, the hope is that it will continue to be stable, cheap like this," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Bandung City TP PKK, Yunimar Mulyana, said that this Cheap Food Promotion was an effort to keep food prices stable ahead of the month of Ramadan.

"Ahead of the month of Ramadan, prices tend to rise. But hopefully with this Cheap Food Title we can keep prices down, they are stable, there is no increase, so this is useful," he said.

Several food commodities that are sold at low prices include: medium rice for IDR 53,000 per 5 kilograms, OilKita (IDR 14,000 per liter), granulated sugar (IDR 14,000 per kilogram), beef rendang (IDR 100,000 per kilogram), chicken (Rp. 37,500 per head), shallots (Rp. 28,000 per kilogram).

There are also chicken eggs priced at IDR 26,000 per kilogram and various vegetables priced at IDR 3,000.

In the same place, Assistant for the Economy and Development of the City of Bandung Eric M. Attauriq said, the Bandung City Government wants to give confidence to the public that food stops in the city of Bandung are safe under control.

According to him, inflation in the city of Bandung is currently still the best in West Java.

"So we hope people don't need to panic buy. Currently, both the price and the availability are sufficient,” he explained.

In line with Eric, Head of the Bandung City Food and Agriculture Security Agency (DKPP), Gin Gin Ginanjar, reminded the public not to need to overspend, aka panic buying ahead of Ramadan.

According to him, food stocks in the city of Bandung are currently sufficient and quality guaranteed.
