"We want to improve little by little. Tegalega is one of the encouragements for the city of Bandung as a force for a better region," said Plh. Mayor of Bandung, Ema Sumarna at Bandung City Hall, Wednesday 24 May 2023.

Currently, there are 482 street vendors in the Tegalega area. The traders are divided into 2 zones, namely 207 East Tegalega street vendors (Moh Toha Street) and 275 West Tegalega street vendors (Otista Street).

Tegalega street vendors cover a wide range of merchandise, including food, accessories, vegetables and fruits.

"We want it to be like the city of Surabaya. The street vendors want to be regulated. The time and stalls (places) can be arranged. I can prove that," he said.

He wants, when it is arranged, the street vendors must follow the rules.

"It has to be according to the designation, according to the existing stalls. No additional tents. This must be clear first," he stressed.

He hopes that with this arrangement, the Tegalega area will become more orderly and comfortable.

"We hope that there will be no more street vendors on the sidewalks, in the west or east. We also encourage no more vehicle parking. That should also be considered," he said.

Meanwhile, Representative of PT Mayora, Andre said he was ready to collaborate with the Bandung City Government in managing the Tegalega area.

"We are ready to collaborate with the Bandung City Government," he said.

PT Mayora, said Andre, hopes that this arrangement can be used by traders so they can increase their business.

"In principle, we help the common people with minimal effort. We help those who want to trade to increase their needs," he said.

Previously, PT Mayora had become a strategic partner of the Bandung City Government in structuring street vendors. The company has collaborated regarding the arrangement of street vendors in the Malabar area, Food Street Dago, Jalan Hasanudin - Jalan Suryakencana (behind the Borromeus Hospital), Sky Walk Cihampelas, street vendors on Jalan Sumatra and so on.(yan)**
