Bandung City Government Maintains UHC for 6 Consecutive Years

The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) won an award for its support for the implementation of the National Health Insurance-Indonesian Health Card (JKN-KIS) Program by encouraging the realization of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Indonesia for 6 consecutive years since 1 January 2018

For this reason, the Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana expressed his pride in achieving universal health insurance coverage in the city of Bandung and consistently maintaining the UHC title.

This is thanks to the collaboration and cooperation with the Bandung Branch of Health BPJS which has been established so far so that the people of Bandung City can be guaranteed in the JKN Program.

"Thank you for the UHC award that has been given to the Bandung City Government. This UHC achievement has been 6 years in a row since January 1 2018," said Yana

"The Bandung City Government supports the JKN program in achieving UHC, one of which is by registering residents whose contributions are paid by the Bandung City Government," he added.

Yana said the Bandung City Government would continue to be committed to maintaining UHC so that the people of Bandung City would get assurance in accessing health services.

According to him, access to fast, fair and equitable health services, be it promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative services, has become the people's right.

"We continue to encourage various related parties as well as all Regional Work Units (SKPD) and other Agencies/Institutions to continue to contribute and collaborate in implementing the JKN Program in Bandung City," he said.

Based on data as of March 1 2023, the coverage of JKN membership in the city of Bandung is more than 98 percent or as many as 2,488,329 people have been registered as JKN participants. Of this total, the Bandung City Government has registered and paid JKN contributions for 616,218 residents of the City of Bandung.

The Head of BPJS Kesehatan Bandung Branch, Muhammad Fakhriza expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the commitment and full support from the Bandung City Government for implementing the JKN program, especially in maintaining UHC for the Bandung City area through various strategic efforts involving all parties.

"Through UHC, the Bandung City Government has provided guarantees for its people in accessing health services," said Fakhriza.

"Along with the achievement of UHC, we will continue to be committed to improving the quality of service to JKN participants through transforming the quality of service at both primary and advanced health facilities," he added.

He said that BPJS Kesehatan continues to improve service quality through the use of the JKN Mobile Application online queuing system, Bed Availability displays, Operating Schedule displays, and flow simplification for certain services.

This effort is expected to increase participant satisfaction with health services.
To expand access to health services for JKN participants, BPJS Kesehatan Bandung Branch has collaborated with 203 First Level Health Facilities (FKTP), including 80 Community Health Centers, 101 Primary Clinics, 11 TNI/Polri Clinics, 10 Individual Practicing Doctors (DPP) and 1 Doctor Tooth.

In addition, referral health facilities have also collaborated with 48 Advanced Referral Health Facilities (FKRTL) consisting of 32 Hospitals and 16 Main Clinics, as well as 5 Pharmacies and 7 Optics. (rob)**
