"Our waste is still in the conventional pattern, namely the pattern of transport, collection, storage - transport. Today we want to try, how to build a new civilization to change our mindset with things that are logical in nature," said Acting Mayor of Bandung, Ema Sumarna.

Ema revealed this during the Socialization of Waste Management and Kang Pisman, at the Titawening PDAM Office, Sunday 4 June 2023.

Ema believes that waste management with a reduce, separate and utilize (Kang Pisman) pattern can be carried out massively. One way that he considered more appropriate was by spreading the success story of a region.

He gave an example, in RW 12, Maleer sub-district, Batununggal sub-district, there was also an initiator and motivator named Pak Yanto. In that area, residents have made a commitment to settle the waste in TPS.

"The people there already know when waste is held at home, sorted and transported by the waste manager in the RW environment. Then it is processed at the TPS," he said.

"In the TPS, waste is managed according to the maggot, recycle and so on patterns. It turns out to have economic value," Ema added.

Therefore, Ema invites each RW to duplicate the successful experiences that have been carried out in several areas.

Meanwhile, Head of the Bandung City Environment Service, Dudi Prayudi, revealed that the Kang Pisman program has been running since 2018.

"Some of the RWs have implemented what is known as a waste-free area or KBS. When there is an accumulation of garbage at the TPS, the RWs that carry out the KBS are not affected, because the waste has finished at the source," said Dudi.

Therefore, Dudi asked RW to implement a waste-free area or the Kang Pisman program.

"The percentage for this waste-free area is only around 10 percent of the 1,594 RWs in the city of Bandung. Therefore, we hope that the RWs that apply Kang Pisman will increase. So that more and more garbage will be resolved at the RW level," he explained. (yan)**
