Chairman of the DPD LDII Bandung City, Edi Sunandar, explained that this activity was one of the programs of the Religious Education Section of the DPD LDII Bandung City to increase the role of the younger generation in the field of religion.

"Now this is the highlight of the event. Selection started in June, as many as 1,000 participants were selected. Now there are 80 people competing throughout the city of Bandung," said Edi at the Sabilul Muttaqin Mosque, Saturday 28 October 2023.

The types of competitions that are competed include calligraphy, tahfiz, tausyiah and call to prayer competitions.

He explained that the background of this event was a form of LDII's concern and response in responding to developments in technology and information.

"Everything can influence the ethics and manners that occur in society. We need to be aware of this. Moreover, the increasing spread of moral corruption, one of which is LGBT, is very worrying," he said.

Moreover, according to him, religious content in schools is increasingly minimal. It is completely disproportionate to the potential moral and moral damage that has developed recently.

As a missionary institution, LDII feels the need to equip the younger generation of children in the city of Bandung with strong religious knowledge.

"The Messenger of Allah explained this in a hadith: It is not that an era comes but the era after it is worse than the previous era," he explained.

Responding to this, the Regional Secretary of the City of Bandung, Ema Sumarna, who also opened the Islamic Generation Festival event, said that LDII has become a strategic partner to present a vision in line with the goals of the City of Bandung.

"By making Rasulullah a role model, I am sure that the people of Bandung City can work together to build a better life," said Ema.

Moreover, currently 70 percent of the city of Bandung is of productive age, the majority of whom are from the younger generation. However, he admitted that one of the big problems in the city of Bandung is drugs.

"No less than 25,000 people have been ensnared. Then there is the life of free sex. Not to mention LGBT, don't let it spread in the city of Bandung. This year we will take steps to prepare a draft regional regulation regarding LGBT. Hopefully we can get support from the community," he said .

One of the participants, 9 year old Nur Alena Putri, took part in the tausyiah competition category. He is one of the representatives from Bandung Kulon District.

"The preparation is to memorize the tausyiah, also remember the intonation. Later we will present the tausiyah about honesty. Hopefully we can show our best," said Alena. (din)**
