Thousands of Bandung City Residents Hold Istighosah and Ghaib Prayers for Palestine
Support for Palestine is increasingly pouring in from all over the world. Thousands of residents of Bandung City were no exception who held istighosah, unseen prayers and group prayers as a form of solidarity with Palestine at the Al Ukhuwah Mosque, Friday 24 November 2023.
The Istighosah and Ghaib Prayer entitled 'From Bandung to Palestine' which took place solemnly was initiated by the Bandung City Government together with the Bandung City Ministry of Religion, Bandung City Baznas, Bandung City MUI and Bandung City FKUB.
The event was attended directly by the Acting Mayor of Bandung, Bambang Tirtoyuliono, Regional Secretary of Bandung City, Ema Sumarna and Forkopimda of Bandung City.
On that occasion, the Acting Mayor of Bandung, Bambang Tirtoyuliono invited the entire community to continue offering prayers for the Palestinian people, in the hope that they would be given help and protection.
"Even though we can't go to Palestine, let's continue to pray for our brothers and sisters in Palestine," he said.
"Through the prayers offered for our brothers in Palestine, hopefully it will become a bridge of prayer to Allah to always provide protection for them," he added.
Meanwhile, the representative of the Bandung City Ministry of Religion as the organizer's representative, Ucup Pathudin Al Maarif, said that joint prayer and solidarity actions were a form of support for the City of Bandung so that there would be no more conflict and colonialism in Palestine.
"This is a form of our responsibility and solidarity with the Palestinian people. Hopefully we can revive the spirit of the Asian-African Conference (KAA) from Bandung to the world. This is also a form of our constitutional responsibility to eliminate colonialism in the world," he said .
Apart from carrying out istighosah and Ghaib prayers, the community also makes donations for Palestinians. The donations collected will later be distributed to Palestinians through the Bandung City Baznas.
After performing istighosah and the Ghaib prayer, thousands of residents long marched as a form of support for Palestinians and continued with interfaith prayers at Bandung City Hall Plaza.
Similar activities were also carried out simultaneously in 30 sub-districts in Bandung City.
