Head of the Bandung City Environmental Service (DLH), Dudy Prayudi, said that the FGD was aimed at collecting input, suggestions and opinions regarding the Draft Regional Regulation for Environmental Protection and Management Plan (Raperda RPPLH).

"Environment-related issues ranging from environmental degradation, air quality and waste require us to look for strategic solutions. This draft regional regulation is a joint commitment to protect and manage the environment," said Dudy.

According to him, clear regulations regarding environmental protection in the dynamics of sustainable development will create a long-term investment in environmental management.

In the Draft Regional Regulation, said Dudy, the RPPLH policy was prepared based on the results of an analysis of the main challenges and strategic issues which included references and basis for implementing development in the Bandung City area.

There are 2 strategies that will be created, namely the general strategy and the implementation strategy. There will also be three RPPLH scenarios arranged into 3 annual periods.

The first 10 year scenario, said Dudy, is aimed at aligning development planning with preserving and improving the quality of the environment in the city of Bandung.

Furthermore, the second 10 year scenario is aimed at increasing the carrying capacity and carrying capacity of the environment through environmental improvements and technological development.

"The last 10 years have been aimed at increasing environmental resilience from development and climate pressures," he said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Special Committee 7 of the Bandung City DPRD, Yudi Cahyadi, said that future development challenges would be very difficult, especially related to environmental issues.

"There are many strategic issues, one of which is the issue of groundwater conditions, green open spaces, traffic jams, air, water and land pollution so that policies are relevant to sustainable development in the city of Bandung," said Yudi.

The hope, said Yudi, is that the RPPLH can be included in all OPDs that have obligations related to the development of the city of Bandung. All OPDs must refer to the RPPLH.

"The importance of environmental aspects in sustainable city development plans. Hopefully this will be a momentum and become a reference for us to ensure that our development plans and policies can also be based on environmental issues," he said.

For your information, this FGD is part of the discussion of the Bandung City RPPLH Draft Regional Regulation. This event was attended by various levels of society starting from the government, DPRD, academics and the community. (rob)**
