"Community commitment is the newest paradigm. There must be a common perception, so that waste is no longer agitated or rurujit (disgusted) but becomes a blessing and produces rupiah," said Ema at the Mosque-Based Waste Management Socialization activity, at the Bandung City MUI Office, Saturday 9 December 2023.

Ema said that efforts were made for each cluster to reduce waste. Such as office clusters, hotels, education and health services. Of the 1,300 tons of waste, only 900 tons were transported to the landfill.

Of the approximately 400 tons that were not disposed of in the landfill, around 104 tons of waste ended up in community clusters.

"This means that cluster-based performance in places of worship, education, hotels, cafes, restaurants and offices is running. We are sure that work with collaboration like this will quickly come out of the emergency period," he explained.

As is known, the Bandung City Government has made a number of efforts to reduce waste. The Bandung City Government provides a number of waste banks. At the waste bank, residents can save waste which is converted into a balance in the form of money.

Apart from that, there is also organic waste management using maggots or larvae (in the form of caterpillars) of the Black Soldier Fly type of fly which is usually called the BSF fly. It is these maggots that will reproduce and have economic value.

Including using organic waste to become compost. The results are used for plant fertilizer in the Buruan Sae program.

Ema believes that with this kind of outreach, the knowledge and concepts provided by environmental activists can be applied in every place of worship, especially mosques.

"I am sure that it will be understood and become a moral movement. There are all problems that can be solved, including handling the waste problem," he said.

In the same place, Deputy Chairman of the Bandung City MUI, Asep Saeful Muhtadi, revealed that mosques in Bandung City are community-based. This community will be the basis for waste management.

"Waste management can be productive. Waste is not a problem but a product," he explained. (yan)**
