"There are still Cileuncang flood spots in Bandung City. One of them is in Gedebage. The flood problem in Gedebage has even been agreed by the parties to be responsible for multi-sectors," said Bambang after inspecting the Gedebage area, Wednesday 13 December 2023.

Bambang said that the flooding problem in the Gedebage area was slowly being resolved. Currently, the presence of the Gedebage retention pond has succeeded in reducing the frequency and intensity of water.

"It's not optimal, but we can reduce the water discharge. We can reduce the intensity, frequency and volume," he said.

He said that various efforts were being made to maximize the potential for flood resolution, namely by repairing and widening the crossings and culverts on Jalan Soekarno Hatta.

"We are ensuring that the crossings and culverts on Jalan Soekarno-Hatta are repaired and some points have even been enlarged and the dimensions have been carried out by friends from the Director General of Highways, Ministry of PUPR," he said.

Currently, the Bandung City Government is also planning the construction of a new retention pond on the Jalan Soekarno-Hatta segment towards Jalan Hospital. However, we are still waiting for clarity on land ownership in the area.

"We have an obligation to build retention ponds. It is true that there are still floods but the ones that are usually high have started to decrease. This means that several retention ponds are still needed, so starting from Soekarno-Hatta first, one of them is in the segment between Gedebage towards the hospital road under Sutet ," he said.

"We are trying to find out who owns the land. Whether it is owned by the City Government or owned by PLN or owned by the community is also important," he added.

He said that the construction of the retention pond could significantly reduce the potential for flooding in the area.

"It would be ideal if a retention pond was built, then downstream from Soekarno-Hatta to the south and of course we have to communicate with Citarum Harum," he said.

Bambang hopes that cross-sector coordination and intensive efforts can immediately resolve the flooding problem in the city of Bandung.

"Hopefully with intensive and integrated efforts not only by the city government, this can be resolved soon," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Water Resources and Highways Service (DSDABM), Didi Ruswandi, said that the construction of a retention pond on Jalan Hospital was a solution for parking water from the Cinambo river.

He said that there are two rivers that pass through the Gedebage area, namely the Cipamulihan River and the Cinambo River. The plan is that the land that will be used as a retention pond is 600 meters long.

"We can actually see that the water in Cipamulihan has been relatively completely drained downstream, but in Cinambo there has been no treatment because of the Gedebage retention pond for Cipamulihan. However, there is an interconnection via road drainage. When Cipamulihan is high from Cinambo it cannot enter," said Didi.

"One solution is to park the water under Sutet for the Cinambo river. There are two rivers, Cipamulihan and Cinambo. Only Cinambo remains. The plan will be done next year," he added. (rob)**
