"Currently in the Greater Bandung area, especially Bandung City, Bandung Regency, West Bandung Regency and Cimahi City, it is still in the rainy season this March. In fact, climatologically, Bandung City is still in the peak period of the rainy season," said the Head of the Meteorological Agency, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) Bandung, Teguh Rahayu to Bandung Public Relations.

According to him, in recent days there have been strong winds plus frequent rain starting in the morning.

"In recent days, the wind has felt strong and the rain has become more frequent starting in the morning. Is this the cause? It is currently observed that the center of low pressure is in the Indian Ocean South of Java. Then there is also a cyclonic circulation in the north of Australia and a convergence extending across West Java," he explained .

"Actually, this is why the increase in rain clouds is more intense in the West Java region, including Greater Bandung," he added.

He revealed that currently the wind speed is very high compared to usual. In the West Java region from 5 - 50 kilometers per hour. Even the wind speed on the south coast is faster (wind) than that.

Meanwhile, in the city of Bandung itself, on March 12, it reached a maximum of 25 kilometers per hour.

"It's quite fast, on average it's usually between 5-20 km per hour," explained Rahayu.

Rahayu predicts that rain will continue to occur in the Bandung City area in the next few days. For this reason, he appealed to the public to remain vigilant when doing activities outside the home.

"In March, this is the peak period of the rainy season, light to heavy intensity has the potential to occur. Be alert for hydrometeorological disasters, namely disasters whose main factors are rainfall, floods, ground movements, landslides, fallen trees and slippery roads," said Rahayu.

If you are doing activities outside the home, it is recommended to bring an umbrella, raincoat and take shelter in a safe place.

"If it rains, don't take shelter under a big tree," he advised. (yan)**
