Opadi, which was organized by the Regional Government (Pemda) of West Java Province in collaboration with the Regency and City Governments, aims to reduce the increase in prices of basic necessities ahead of Eid al-Fitr by providing subsidies.

Opadi will be held simultaneously in 27 districts/cities in West Java starting April 1 and ending on April 5 2024.

"Hopefully this Opadi can ease the burden on all of you," said Bambang during the Subsidized Market Operation at the Struggle Monument, Jalan Dipati Ukur, Lebakgede Village, Coblong District, Thursday 4 April 2024.

The Regional Government of West Java Province distributed around 4,834 packages to Opadi in Bandung City.

Bambang explained that Opadi in Bandung City was held for two days, the first day on April 3 was held at TVRI Cibaduyut Field, with an allocation of 2,000 packages.

"Today in Monju, around 2,834 packages were distributed," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Head of the West Java Province Industry and Trade Service, Noneng Komara, said that Opadi is the government's way of helping people get food at reasonable prices, and can also reduce inflation.

"The commodities sold at the Opadi event are 5 kg packages of premium rice, 2 kg packages of premium sugar and 2 liter packages of premium cooking oil," explained Noneng.

The normal price for the package is IDR 146,700, said Noneng, but after being subsidized, people can buy it at Opadi for IDR 101,000 or get a subsidy of IDR 45,700.

On that occasion, Bambang reminded the people of Bandung City not to panic buy before Eid al-Fitr.

"To all the people of Bandung City, I convey that food availability until the day of Eid al-Fitr is safe, so there is no need to panic buy," he recalled.

Supporting this, the Head of the West Java Bulog Regional Office, M. Attar Rizal, said that rice stocks in West Java until Eid al-Fitr are considered safe.

"Until Eid, I ensure that the rice stock in West Java is quite safe, and what you bought at the Opadi event is the absorbed stock in West Java," said Attar.

Attar also said that West Java Bulog is ready to support all districts and cities in West Java Province.

"Bulog is a state-owned food agency and we are ready to support provinces and regencies/cities in West Java," he said. (ziz)**
