This was stated by the Acting Regional Secretary for the City of Bandung, Hikmat Ginanjar at the 28th Commemoration Ceremony of Bandung City Level Regional Autonomy Day at City Hall, Thursday 25 April 2024.

This year the theme is "Sustainable Regional Autonomy towards a Green Economy and Healthy Environment".

This is a commitment to responsibility and awareness of all levels of local government regarding the mandate and duty to build sustainability in the management of natural resources and the environment at the local level and promote an environmentally friendly economic model to create a sustainable future for future generations.

He mentioned in the context of the green economy which is one of the six strategies for Indonesia's economic transformation to achieve the 2045 vision. The decentralization policy provides space for local governments to manage natural resources more efficiently and sustainably.

"Including through the transformation of superior products from those originally based on non-renewable products, such as the mining processing industry, to products and services that are renewed while still paying attention to regional potential, such as agriculture, maritime affairs and tourism," said Hikmat when reading the written remarks of the Minister of Home Affairs.

The regional autonomy policy also gives local governments the freedom to experiment with policies at the local level to encourage the implementation of green technology.

Such as the use of renewable energy such as solar energy (solar panels), the use of electric cars which replace the existence of fossil fuel cars, environmentally friendly waste processing to green building designs that pay attention to energy efficiency, the use of environmentally friendly construction materials and building waste management.

"By combining regional autonomy policies that focus on green economic development, we can create a positive impact on the environment, society and the economy as a whole," he said.

Apart from that, existing regional governments are faced with obstacles and challenges in regional development to encourage national development programs including handling stunting and reducing extreme poverty rates.

Not only that, there is also controlling inflation, improving quality public services through an Electronic Based Government System (SPBE), accelerating the national and regional economic recovery process as well as a green economy and a healthy environment.

After 28 years have passed, regional autonomy has had a positive impact, in the form of increasing Human Development Index (HDI), increasing Regional Original Income (PAD) and regional fiscal capacity.

"Implementation of regional development needs to be carried out through a sustainable policy approach and implementation of green economy regulations. The implementation of regional government and economic growth is carried out by taking into account aspects of social justice and environmental preservation," he said. (rob)**
