MAYOR OF BANDUNG CITY DIE: NATIONAL FIGURE, RELIGION TO CULTURAL GROWING

A number of religious figures to cultural figures also feel deep condolences for the death of the Mayor of Bandung, Oded M Danial. Oded, died on Friday, December 10, 2021 during the sunnah prayer before the Friday prayer at the Great Mosque of the Mujahideen, Jalan Sancang, Bandung. Oded was originally going to be a Friday prayer preacher.

After being rushed to the Muhammadiyah Hospital, Bandung City, the body was taken to the Bandung City Hall, Jalan Dalemkaum for further burial in his hometown, Tasikmalaya. Former Vice President Jusuf Kalla, the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, and the Regent of Bandung, Dadang Supriatna were also seen mourning. The chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) in Bandung, K.H. Miftah Faridl, had become a member of the false faith in the body at the Pendopo. K.H Miftah Faridl conveyed a deep sense of loss, not only for Oded as Mayor of Bandung but also as a scholar.

"We feel the loss of a very good figure, a figure who is close to the people and close to the ulema. He is not only a regional leader but also a cleric who takes part in religious activities a lot," he said.

"He died in a very good condition, while praying, while mentioning the name of Allah, in the mosque and on Friday. Hopefully we can continue his kindness," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the PB Pasundan Association, Prof. Dr. H.M Didi Turmudzi M.Si also expressed his condolences for the death of the Mayor of Bandung. He called Oded a populist leader.

"The big family of Paguyuban Pasundan feel lost, God willing, Mang Oded died in a state of khusnul khatimah. He was a simple and popular figure," he said.

Oded, explained Didi, is an alumni of Pasundan University who also always supports the activities initiated by the Pasundan Association. Among them was the inauguration of the mosque in Taman Sari and when he received an award on PAS TV's 3rd anniversary.

"The plan was that Mang Oded would also inaugurate the Pasundan Hospital on Jalan Panatayudha, but God called him. Goodbye, Mang Oded, I hope that Mang Oded gets the best place in the sight of Allah SWT," he said.

Meanwhile, Sundanese culturalist Uu Rukmana stated that he had lost a figure loved by the people of Bandung.

"When I heard that he died, I couldn't believe it. He was an honest mayor, never discriminated against. I got along with you, panceh na galur. I pray that he will go to heaven, God willing," he said. (tiwi)
