The Mayor of Bandung, Oded M. Danial, accompanied by the Deputy Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana, and the Chair of the Bandung City TP-PKK, Siti Muntamah, visited directly to ensure that market operations were carried out in accordance with health protocols.

"We are collaborating with Aprindo DPD Jabar to operate a low-cost cooking oil market. This is carried out because recently the price of oil is quite high. To help the community, we hold this market operation," he said.

However, because the implementation of market operations is still in the Covid-19 pandemic situation, so the distribution is arranged so that there are no crowds.

"It is distributed through sub-districts, one kelurahan is given 30 pouches (60 liters). Although not all of them, but at least they can help the community a little," said Oded.

Oded said that cheap cooking oil with premium quality must be targeted to the poor. Especially those who have micro, small and medium enterprises or SMEs.

"I have emphasized that this (distribution) must be right on target to the community," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of Disdagin in Bandung, Elly Wasliah, said that in this market operation, Disdagin was assisted by the Indonesian Retail Entrepreneurs Association (Aprindo) DPD West Java, providing 5000 pouches of premium cooking oil in 2 liter packages.

According to Elly, in this market operation there were 9 retailers who contributed to providing premium quality cheap cooking oil. They are Hypermart, Indomaret, Borma, Lotte Mart, Yogya, Alfamart, Lotte Wholesale, Superindo, and Hero Supermarket.

"Alhamdulillah, today we provide 5,000 pouches, which means there are 10,000 liters of cooking oil. Here it is sold for Rp. 30,000 per 2 liters. Meanwhile, the market has moved at Rp. 37,000-40,000 per 2 liters," explained Elly.

"God willing, (right on target), because on Wednesday we had a meeting to gather the heads of the economic and development sections of sub-districts throughout the city of Bandung. We convey that this is for micro-enterprises, poor people who need it," he added.

Elly further explained, according to the information from the Director General of Domestic Trade, the cause of the increase in cooking oil prices was due to the increase in world crude oil prices, so that domestic crude oil prices also adjusted.

"Secondly, palm oil production has decreased so that it disrupts the supply of cooking oil. And in accordance with the mayor's direction that the government must be present (to help)," he said. (tan)**
