Many queens and kings came to SD Cendekia Muda Bandung on Tuesday, January 18, 2022. Gold crowns were attached to their heads. Some also wear scarves and red robes.
The queens and kings also brought injections and vaccines for students at SD Cendekia Muda.

The queen and king are actually health workers (nakes) from the Arcamanik Health Center. They were dressed like queens and kings so that the children would not feel afraid when they were vaccinated.

While visiting and seeing firsthand the vaccine process at this school, Plt. The Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana really appreciates the innovation from the school.

"The efforts made at this school are very innovative, yes. So it makes children understand, so they are not afraid to be vaccinated," said Yana.

Not only that, the teachers also held a drama performance in front of the children about "Dare to Vaccine". In fact, Yana had a role in this drama.

Yana becomes a character who explains to children not to be afraid of viruses.

"Don't be afraid of the virus. We can fight the virus if we wear masks, wash our hands regularly, use hand sanitizer, and get vaccinated. Who here dares to be vaccinated?" Yana asked the students sitting in front of her.

The children cheered, "I am!" while holding up his hands.

"I also saw that the explanations from the teachers were in accordance with the children's language style. Hopefully with their own awareness, children will want to be vaccinated. So that we can carry out activities as usual with health protocols, and this covid-19 pandemic will soon be become endemic," he added.

On this occasion, Yana also visited the vaccine and observation room available at SD Cendekia Muda.

The Principal of Cendekia Muda Elementary School, Wina Dewi, said there were four vaccination rooms, one observation room, and one medical room.

"The vaccination rooms are divided between men and women. Each has two rooms, so that everything is more conducive. After that, the children will go to the observation room to be monitored whether there is a reaction or not after the vaccine," explained Wina.

So that the children do not feel bored, Wina added, there are drama performances and small games to entertain them.

Wina also explained, if within 15-20 minutes the child does not show symptoms, then they can go home.

"But, if you show symptoms, we have provided a special room and officers to handle it," he added.

For the target of the first dose of vaccination to 387 students, Wina said, it will be divided into two sessions.

"The vaccination is divided into two days, Tuesday and Wednesday. Today the target is to vaccinate 250 students. The participants are specifically for grades 1, 3, 4, and 6. We will schedule classes 2 and 5 tomorrow to keep it conducive," said Wina.

Meanwhile, for the vaccinators on duty, Wina said, they were brought in from the Arcamanik Health Center and the Arcamanik Police.

"The Arcamanik Health Center will be the vaccinator for today. As for tomorrow, the police will be," he said.

Wina hopes that this vaccination can be an effort so that her students can safely return to study during the 100 percent Face-to-face Learning period.

"Our school itself is included in group 1 PTM 100 percent. Hopefully later when it is more conducive, the children can be safer and more fully study at school," said Wina.

Of course it is not an easy matter to handle child vaccination, especially for small grade students. There are some who cry before the injection because of fear. In fact, teachers need to lure children with ice cream and chocolate.

"Of course, for small grades, it's more challenging, yes. Some are afraid to cry. So, we calmed them down, hugged them. That's why we asked the health workers and the police to also wear crowns so that the children relax," said Wina.

In the male vaccine room, Plt. The Mayor of Bandung met with one of the students of SD Cendekia Muda, her name was Rusyda Ilham Al Banna. This 6th grader was being vaccinated when Yana came to visit.

"It hurts, but it's okay, I'll be healthier and not get the virus easily. So I can go to school and play with my friends again," said Rusyda.*
