Who doesn't scratch their heads when they see the prices of basic necessities that have soared recently. Especially for people who are less able, to get nutritious food, such as carbohydrates, protein, and minerals feels like a dream.

In order to realize this dream, the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) and the related Regional Work Units (SKPD) have jointly created a program in the form of Rice ATMs since 2018, and Hurry SAE since 2020.

Head of the Bandung City Food and Agriculture Security Service (DKPP), Gin Gin Ginanjar, explained that until now the two flagship programs of the Bandung City Government are still running actively.

"Alhamdulillah, the two programs from the late Mang Oded and Pak Yana are still actively running. In fact, until now, from the target of 30 rice ATMs in all sub-districts, we have provided 24. And for Hurry SAE, there are already groups in 151 urban villages," explained gin gin.

The remaining six ATMs will be reworked this year. The Rice ATM program, said Gin Gin, was only intended for the less fortunate Bandung residents.

One unit of Rice ATM can help 75 families (KK). Where each KK gets 10 kg of rice every month.

"One time it is 2.5 kg per week. So, within a month, 1 family can get 10 kg of rice," he said

Gin Gin added, this rice ATM program will be provided for one year for each KK. After that, a list of other KK will be used as recipients of Rice ATM assistance.

"We are coordinating the data with the Social Service. So, we hope that all underprivileged residents can feel the assistance from the Rice ATM," he added.

ATM Rice is not only talking about food, but also the value of tolerance.

Gin Gin said that the locations for the Rice ATMs were mosques, churches, and village offices. Thus, not only distributing rice, but also providing education to the community.

"That's why we put these Rice ATMs in mosques and churches as well. So that residents worship at the mosque at the same time, receive religious instruction, and we distribute rice aid," said Gin Gin.

The distribution of rice is carried out after the Fajr prayer for Muslims, or after a service for Christians.

This Rice ATM also received support from residents through the Bandung City Baznas. To date, the Bandung City Baznas has provided 12 Rice ATMs and includes regular filling of rice.

"Residents can also contribute to fill rice at the Rice ATM. Because our target is 75 families. If more rice stocks are available, we can also add to the list of beneficiaries," he said.

Regional government food reserves (CPPD) are one of the sources for filling Rice ATMs. The rice given is in the premium category of good quality.

"Until now, the Rice ATM has always been filled, there are no vacancies. Because the coordinators also have a system. They always coordinate with us for the procurement of rice," said Gin Gin.

In order to maintain security and target beneficiaries, as well as cash ATMs, ATM Rice provides ATM cards for registered residents.

Dyah, one of the coordinators of the Rice ATM in Mandalajati District, said that residents were greatly helped by the existence of this Rice ATM.

"There are no complaints from residents. Thank God the rice is always full. I really feel helped by having a Rice ATM, especially in times like this," said Dyah.

Create Food Security

Not only thinking about staple food for the community, the Bandung City Government also launched Buruan SAE at the end of 2020 to maintain food security in the city of Bandung.

"Hurry in Sundanese means page. Meanwhile, SAE means good, beautiful, neat. Besides that, SAE is also an acronym for healthy, natural, and economical," said Gin Gin.

So, through the SAE Hurry program, Gin Gin said, residents can take advantage of their limited environmental land or yard for the integration of food crops of economic value.

"So, residents can grow vegetables for their mineral needs, they can raise fish in buckets, they can also raise chickens for their protein needs," he explained.

This SAE hunted plant is an organic vegetable that is processed using fertilizer from organic waste. This fertilizer is managed by the Kang Pisman program.

With Hurry SAE, Gin Gin also hopes that residents can be more economically empowered from the results of growing food on their home land or their environment.

In fact, residents can also share with each other if the crops or livestock in their homes have been harvested.

"We only invest in seeds. Then we are accompanied by how to manage it. The rest are residents who continue. We hope that SAE can help each other by sharing with fellow citizens," added Gin Gin.

Furthermore, Gin Gin said that if Hurry SAE could reduce stunting rates in the city of Bandung.

"But, of course this is not only because of the performance of the DKPP, but also from the Health Service and other SKPD. The role of the community is also important in reducing stunting rates, one of which is through these programs," he said.

One of the 151 kelurahan that has implemented Buruan SAE is Jatihandap Village.

Head of Economic and Development Section Ex. Jatihandap, Dodi Suhendi, said that there are already 14 RWs in his area that are running this program.

"Out of the 17 RWs, there are 14 RWs running. The vegetable crops are various, such as eggplant, pakcoy chilies, kale," he said.

Dodi added that the residents were greatly helped by the existence of this SAE Hurry. So they can use their land to be more productive.

"Although it is narrow, the land for the house is more empowered. There are already three groups that have harvested. And the results are also distributed to local residents," he added. (din)**
