At the Coblong Police Headquarters, the Head of the Criminal and Investigation Unit of the Coblong Police, Iptu Sudar, revealed that from the results of the interrogation, the perpetrator admitted that the vandalism was just a fad.

"The reported person who was caught with the initials BPN is 19 years old as a student. From the results of the interrogation, the motive for the deletion was a fad," said Sudar, Friday, January 21, 2022.

Sudar explained, for two weeks, his team had conducted an investigation to determine the identity and whereabouts of the perpetrators.

"Since two weeks ago, our team has carried out an investigation. Starting with looking for the license plate of the motorbike. After that, we looked for the address. We also carried out tracking until we finally found the whereabouts of the reported party in the Pasirimpun area," he explained.

Sudar added that the police had actually known the whereabouts of the perpetrators since Thursday, January 20, 2022 in the afternoon.

"However, we are still conducting an investigation to ascertain the identity of the perpetrator. So, around 17.30 WIB we detained for 1 x 24 hours at the Coblong Police," explained Sudar.

According to Sudar's statement, the accused was the driver of the motorbike. Meanwhile, one other person who is still a DPO is the perpetrator of the wall painting.

"This reported person was driving a motorbike. He also had time to write on the wall with white pilox that read 'GONB'. Meanwhile, the other perpetrators also used white pilox, but the legibility was not very clear," said Sudar.

At a glance, to review this case, on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 02.00 WIB, the two perpetrators were caught on CCTV carrying out an act of vandalism with white pilox on the Babakan Siliwangi wall.

Both perpetrators are male. They were on their way home from Ciumbuleuit using a Scoopy matic motorbike.

When asked for information about the perpetrator's involvement with motorcycle gangs in Bandung, Sudar said, according to information received, the perpetrators had no relationship with members of motorcycles or other gangs.

"This case is purely from a private person who idly crossed out public facilities," he said.

For this action, the perpetrator violated Article 406 in conjunction with 489 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Law no. 9 of 2019 concerning Public Order, Peace and Community Protection with the threat of a sentence of 2 years and 8 months.

The head of the Coblong Police, Kompol Nanang Sukmajaya said, until now, the police are still trying to find another perpetrator whose identity has not been known.

"Today, the search for DPO vandalism will still be carried out. Five of our members will go down and spread throughout the city of Bandung looking for the perpetrators," he said.

Regarding what steps will be taken next for these reported parties, Nanang added, this case will still be investigated further after another perpetrator is found.

Responding to the vandalism case that occurred in his environment, the Head of the Coblong Sub-district, Krinda Hamidi Praja expressed his gratitude for the assistance from the Bandung City Government (Pemkot), the community, and the police who have tried to find the vandalism perpetrator.

"Until there was a competition. And Alhamdulillah, after the police tracked down the whereabouts of this perpetrator, they were finally caught," said Krinda.

Although everyone is angry with the vandalism of the perpetrators, Krinda hopes that the perpetrators will continue to serve their sentences in accordance with applicable regulations.

"There are already two areas that have written off their facilities, namely in Cikapayang and Babakan Siliwangi. We will protect this Bandung and we also want it. We want Bandung to be safe, peaceful, and beautiful. So hopefully there will be a deterrent effect for the perpetrators," " he said. (din/yan)**
