The land for the retention basin is located in Pussenkav base of 1.500 meter square. Not only is it for the retention basin, the three-months construction plan will also build a public space.

“Alhamdulillah, today, it began. We planned it together with the TNI. We provide the manpower and technology for the retention basin, and the TNI provides the land,” stated by the Acting Mayor of Bandung City, Yana Mulyana, on the Macul Perdana event for the retention basin in Pussenkav TNI AD, Monday, 21 February 2022.

Symbolically, Yana and the Deputy Commander of Pussenkav, dug the soil using an excavator as the first step to building the retention basin.

Yana believed that this retention basin could address flood issues in Bandung City.

“This is to address flood in its surrounding areas, along with waste management,” Yana said.

Yana also said that this retention basin could help to strengthen the livestock industry such as fish cultivations.

“It is also for waste management, for compost or food for livestock through maggots. The ecosystem is also to address the flood issues that is certainly environmentally friendly,” he said.

Moreover, the Head of Water Resources Agency, Didi Ruswandi, stated that the total width of the land is 1.500 meter square. As for the retention basin, it is planned to have a width of 750 meter square.

“The width is 1.500 meter square, and for the retention basin is 750 meter square. To make it enticing, there will be a public space and a café,” he said.

As to the benefits, he believed that it could solve floods that usually occured from Turangga St. to Martanegara.

“The benefits are to solve flood issues from Turangga St. to Martanegara. The concept for the public space is to be used as a fish cultivation place,” he said.

In the same place, the Deputy Commander of Pussenkav TNI AD, the Brigadier General of TNI, Hendrikus Joko Riyanto, was ready to collaborate with the government to serve the public.

With this retention basin, it can be a way of addressing the flood issues in Pussenkav areas.

“The collaboration with the Pussenkav is an actual prove in which TNI helps the public by synergizing with the Government’s programs. This synergy can be further improved,” he said. (yan)**
