Flyover Will Change its Name to Jalan Prof. Mochtar Kusumaatmadja

The Pasupati flyover which is one of the icons of the city of Bandung will change its name to Jalan Prof. Mochtar Kusumaatmadja. The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has approved the proposal to give the name.

This flyover is the link between the Pasteur Toll Exit to Bandung City and the administrative center of West Java Province, namely Gedung Sate.

The proposal to change the name of the Pasupati Flyover to Jalan Prof. Mochtar Kusumaatmadja is a form of appreciation from the community, especially West Java and Bandung City, for the achievements that have been made by the late Prof. Dr. Mochtar Kusumaatmadja.

The Chair of the Research Team and Regional Title Reviewers (TP2GD) of West Java Province as well as Assistant for Government and People's Welfare of the West Java Provincial Government Secretariat, Dewi Sartika said the embedding of this name was part of the respect of the people of West Java for the contribution of thoughts and struggles of Mochtar Kusumaatmadja for Indonesia in the international arena. .

"The proposal for the name Jalan Prof. Dr. Mochtar Kusumaatmadja comes from the Padjadjaran University community and has received full support from the Governor who has verbally conveyed the aspirations of the West Java residents to the central government so that it can be legalized," said Dewi some time ago.

The plan, said Dewi, was to inaugurate the name Jalan Prof. Dr. Mochtar Kusumaatmadja will be held in the near future.

"The presence of the name Jalan Prof. Dr. Mochtar Kusumaatmadja is a step to fulfill the requirements for proposing a national hero, namely the presence of monuments/artifacts in the form of buildings/roads, and so on in the proposer's area," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chancellor of the University of Padjadjaran Prof. Rina Indiastuti said the West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil's proposal was one of the supports to strengthen Prof.'s submission. Dr. Mochtar Kusumaatmadja as a national hero.

"This indicates that the provincial government's support is extraordinary," said Rina.

Furthermore, Rina said that the proposal for the title of hero Prof. Mochtar Kusumaatmadja has come a long way. Unpad also continues to support the proposal that this national hero title can be implemented this year.

The proposal is also even more special with the existence of 78 supporting institutions, more than 100 support from figures/individuals, to thousands of petitions that have come in from Indonesia to abroad.

"Hopefully in time the president will be pleased to issue a national hero decree for Prof. Mochtar Kusumaatmadja, who we know as a great teacher and statesman, is indisputable," he said.

For information, Prof. Dr. Mochtar Kusumaatmadja is an academic and diplomat born on February 17, 1929. He has served as Minister of Foreign Affairs in Development Cabinet III, and Minister of Justice in Development Cabinet II.

He is also a professor at the Faculty of Law, Padjadjaran University. His definition of law is "Law is the whole of the principles and rules that govern people's lives.
