Ahead of Nyepi, Bandung City Government Ensures Comfort in Worship

The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) ensures that all religious communities in the city of Bandung have the comfort of worshiping according to their beliefs. This was conveyed by Plt. Mayor of Bandung Yana Mulyana during a gathering with Hindus at the Bandung City Hall, Wednesday 23 February 2022.

This gathering is related to the celebration of Nyepi Day and Saka New Year 1444 which are only days away.

Yana said that this gathering is a habit that the Bandung City Government has built for a long time. Namely ahead of celebrations or religious holidays, the Bandung City Government stays in touch with religious leaders in the city of Bandung.

"I would like to thank my brothers and sisters, Hindus in the city of Bandung who have helped the government build the city of Bandung from a good one to a better one," Yana said.

He hopes that the relationship between religious communities in the city of Bandung will be even closer. This is also in line with one of the visions of the City of Bandung which is religious and every people of Bandung City have the freedom and comfort to worship according to their religion.

On the same occasion, I Ketut Wiguna as Chair of Parisadha Hindu Dharma Indonesia expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Bandung City Government for protecting Hindus in the city of Bandung.

His party admitted that he was happy to be able to continue to stay in touch with the ranks of the Bandung City Government.

Furthermore, he explained that Nyepi Day and Saka New Year are holidays that are very sacred by Hindus.

"Silent is a turning point because we have the opportunity to do introspection, contemplation, and meditation to grow better together," said Ketut.

He also explained that the spirit in Hinduism is to build harmony. Be it harmony to the Creator, fellow creatures, and the universe.

"Hopefully the contribution of Hindus in building harmony will be an inspiration in this meeting, in order to build harmony in life. So that the presence of each religion is to greet each other, not blame," he said.

The gathering was also attended by the Regional Secretary of the City of Bandung, Ema Sumarna, the Chair of the Bandung City of Religious Harmony Forum (FKUB), Ahmad Suherman, religious leaders in the city of Bandung as well as the ranks of the TNI, POLRI, and the Bandung City Government. (ray)**
