The Acting Mayor of Bandung City, Yana Mulyana, stated that the vaccine acceleration would create herd immunity.

“Aside from complying with health protocols, social distancing, and wearing a mask, one of the efforts is vaccination since it can create herd immunity,” Yana said in Bandung Menjawab program in the City Hall on Friday, 4 March 2022.

Thus far, Yana stated that 15% of Bandung residents have been vaccinated with the third dose. Whereas for the first does, it’s reached 112% and the second dose has reached 100%.

“This is one of our efforts. The Indonesian Government stated that the interval between the second and third dose was six months, but it’s been reduced to 3 months,” he said.

If the pandemic turns into an endemic, Yana said that relaxation regarding activities will be applied. People could do their usual activities as they used to.

“Although if we read, many countries abroad have regulated wearing mask as not mandatory. But, of course, we must stay alert,” he said.

“It is because the transmission is through droplets. One of the measurements we can take is by wearing a mask,” Yana said.

Aside from complying with health protocols and vaccine acceleration, Yana urged people to use Peduli Lindungi app. Through this application, people’s condition can be detected more easily.

“With Peduli Lindungi, we can know the conditions of people, seen by their status, be it green, yellow, red, or even black,” he said.

“This is one of the measurements to reduce Covid-19 transmission among people in recreational areas,” he said.

It is because, according to recent information, active cases of Covid-19 in Bandung are still high. Data from covid19.bandung.go.id showed the increase of new cases of 1.300 people on Thursday, 3 March 2022.

“Of course, per yesterday, there was an increase of 1.3000 cases, even though a few days ago we were still at 500-600 cases,” he said.

“Therefore, it is important to comply with health protocols, reduce activities with potentials of creating crowd. We are in dire need of support from the public,” Yana said. (din)*
