Yana: PMI Must be More Anticipative Concerning the Dynamics of Humanitarian Duties

The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) as a humanitarian organization continues to give attention to the community. The task carried out by PMI itself is not only related to technical handling and rehabilitation, but also educating the public to stay alert to something that causes a disaster.

The Indonesian Red Cross Society (PMI) as a humanitarian organization keeps trying to watch over the public.

Certainly, serving to humanitarian duties is not an easy task, as it does not only require intellectual competence, but also social competence in a sense being sensitive and responsive towards situations.

It was stated by the Acting Mayor of Bandung City, Yana Mulyana, in the inauguration of the Honorary Council (Dewan Kehormatan) and Committee (Pengurus) of PMI of Bandung City for 2022-2027 in Pendopo of Bandung City, Thursday, 17 March 2022.

“Hopefully, PMI of Bandung City brings benefits, not only to the members but also the public,” Yana said.

Yana also appreciated PMI’s hard work in Covid-19 measurements in Bandung City.

“Thanks to the committee who have been working together in dealing with Covid-19 in Bandung City,” he said.

He said that PMI’s tasks did not only cover measurements or rehabilitations, but also involved educating the public to remain vigilant concerning disastrous things.

“Alhamdulillah, the synergy of PMI and the Bandung City Government keeps going. We (the Bandung City Government) also keep accelerating the vaccination progress in Bandung City,” he said.

He added that, in Bandung City, vaccine acceleration was continuously carried out with 112% for the first dose and 100% for the second dose.

“Covid-19 pandemic situations in Bandung City is relatively controlled. New Covid-19 cases also decrease around 369 a day. Bad Occupancy Rate (BOR) is at 35%,” he said.

“The vaccination is also performed to non-Bandung residents who are doing activities in Bandung City. Hopefully, through this vaccination, we could get better,” he said.

Additionally, the Head of PMI of Bandung City for 2022-2027, Ade Koesjanto, expressed his gratitude for accessibility given in the inauguration of the Honorary Council (Dewan Kehormatan) and Committee (Pengurus) of PMI of Bandung City.

“As humanitarian people, hopefully, PMI of Bandung City could raise awareness and provide optimal service through honoring PMI’s visions,” Ade said.

“It is time to unite voluntary empathy to honor PMI’s guidons by improving togetherness and harmony,” he said.

In the same location, the Head of PMI of West Java Province, Irjen Pol (Purn) Drs. H. Adang Rochyana, said that the mission of the new PMI’s committee was to be beneficial to the public.

“(it is to) be able to provide benefits and receive Allah’s blessings. We perform charity and avoid continuous sins,” he said.

“The PMI’s first period mission concerns early detections, then informing to the public, and then real measurements,” he added.
