The Bandung City Government planned to collaborate with Daegu City, South Korea. It was stated in the meeting with the representatives of Daegu in the City Hall, Friday, 18 March 2022.

In the meeting, the Acting Mayor of Bandung City, Yana Mulyana, warmly welcomed the Daegu’s representatives. He said that Bandung and Daegu had many similarities as metropolitan cities.

“The sister city collaboration has been carried out three times between the Bandung City Government and Daegu. Basically, the Bandung City Government warmly welcomes,” Yana said.

Specifically, Yana hoped that the collaboration between the two governments cover waste management, transportation, and tourism.

If an understanding is reached, Yana hoped that the sister city collaboration could be carried out.

“We will continue making progress, certainly through the legislative (to follow up the collaboration). Hopefully, it could make Bandung City to become better,” he said.

Additionally, Park Sung Ho, as a representative of Daegu Jakarta, said that Daegu had an advantage in watery sectors and waste management.

Looking at what the Bandung City Government hoped, Park Sung Ho said that the sister city collaboration was an accurate action.

“We have some technologies. We have an advantage in waste management. Not only daily waste management, but it also includes industrial waste,” he said.

Several locations in South Korea were also considered to be qualified and have good education.

“If the collaboration was afoot, we could invite more parties from South Korea (to collaborate),” he said. (ray)**
