The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) ensures that the stock of basic needs in the city of Bandung is safe ahead of this year's Ramadan. This was revealed by the Head of the Bandung City Department of Trade and Industry (Disdagin), Elly Wasliah.

Regarding the increase in several commodities, Elly said it was still within reasonable limits. Some commodities that experienced an increase include beef, which initially ranged from Rp.120,000 to Rp140,000, chicken meat from Rp.34,000 to Rp.37,000 and cayenne pepper.

"The increase is at 10 percent, so it is still within reasonable limits. However, we hope that before Ramadan there will be no further increase," he said at Ciwastra Market, Monday, March 21, 2022.

To suppress rising commodity prices, the Bandung City Government will also hold a bazaar ahead of the month of Ramadan. The plan is that the bazaar, which is a collaboration with the Bulog of Bandung City, will be held in Rancasari District, Bandung, on March 31, 2022.

Elly claimed to have coordinated with the local police chief and sub-district head. Currently, the bazaar is just waiting for permission from the Head of the Bandung City Covid-19 Task Force.

"We have proposed to the Chair of the Covid-19 Task Force to hold a bazaar," he said.

The bazaar will present the basic needs of the community at affordable prices.

Elly gave an example, beef, which is currently pegged at a market price of Rp. 120,000, can be sold for Rp. 110,000 at the bazaar. In addition, there are also 560 gas cylinders that are ready to be distributed.

"In principle, we present the basic needs of the community and prioritize the price (basic needs) that increase, so that the price can be cheaper," said Elly. (ray)**
