The Acting Mayor of Bandung City, Yana Mulyana, asked the Regional Management Board of Persatuan Real Estat Indonesia (DPD REI) of West Java to construct a residential area for Low-Income People (MBR).

“We (the Bandung City Government) hope that REI help construct residences for low-income people,” he said in the West Java REI commissariat inauguration, in Trans Luxury Hotel, Tuesday, 22 March 2022.

He said that there were lots of lands in Bandung City owned by the Bandung City Government. For example: Rancacili, Cingised, to Rusun Peralatan Daerah Militer (Paldam).

“Bandung City is prepared for bunkhouses (rumah susun). Actually, lands in Bandung City owned by the Bandung City Government located in Rancacili, Cingised and Paldam can be used as well. So, there are subsidies from the Bandung City Government and entrepreneurs for MBR,” he emphasized.

Responding to that, the Head of DPD REI of West Java, Joko Suranto, said that they would survey several locations in West Java for residences for MBR.

“We will conduct a pilot project to survey details and residential needs in West Java,” he said.

He said that home construction in West Java reached 40.000 units per year. The number was 35-40% of the national supply.

“Because West Java’s population is high and there are many manufacturers so it requires residences,” he said. (yan)**
