Bandung Lautan Api (BLA) is a form of people's struggle against colonialism in March 1946.

Within seven hours, about 200,000 Bandung residents burned their homes, leaving the city so the invaders could not take them.

"During the BLA incident, the people of Bandung City sacrificed their lives. Hopefully this spirit reminds us to always be optimistic in facing Covid-19 because we must believe that Bandung will be better than today," said Plt. Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana, Wednesday 23 March 2022.

Yana said this on the sidelines of a pilgrimage to the Cikutra Heroes Cemetery, Bandung City, which is a series of commemorations for the Bandung Ocean of Fire.

According to him, the spirit that was sacrificed by the people and the Indonesian army in the past 76 years has inspired the struggle at this time in tackling and efforts to break the chain of the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

"We don't give up easily in fighting the pandemic in our beloved country for more than 2 years," he said.

"I am optimistic that the spirit of the heroes can be a spirit for all the people of Bandung," added Yana.

Just to note, the pilgrimage begins with respect to the spirit of the hero led by the Acting Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana.

Also present were the Regional Secretary for the City of Bandung, Ema Sumarna and a number of representatives of the Bandung City Forkopimda members.

During the pilgrimage, Yana took the time to visit the grave of her biological father. While on a pilgrimage, Yana was seen shedding tears at the tomb of her late biological father. (asy)**
