Bandung Tanginas was thought to be successful in decreasing the percentage of stunting in Bandung City. Bandung Tanginas is an educational program to increase public’s knowledge of how to prevent stunting.

Bandung Tanginas received the 1st winner for the category of the city with the best innovations. The submission of the achievement was carried out simultaneously with the event called Musyawarah Rencana Pembangunan (Musrenbang) in Trans Luxury Hotel Bandung.

Because of the achievement, the Acting Mayor of Bandung City, Yana Mulyana, stated that in supporting the Bandung Tanginas program, the Bandung City Government had inaugurated 151 counsellors for every ward.

“Alhamdulillah, we win the achievement of the 1st winner of the city with the best innovations through the Bandung Tanginas program. Yesterday, we had also inaugurated 151 counsellors penggerak bangga kencana kelurahan (PBKK) to be spread out to 30 sub-districts of Bandung City,”

Yana said that the percentage of stunting in Bandung City rose again since the Covid-19 cases increased.

“In 2021, the percentage of stunting in Bandung City was 8,83%. In fact, in the previous year, it decreased more than 6%,” he said.

Additionally, the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, stressed on several essential aspects. One of them was concerned with stunting

“We also still have problems concerning stunting. I ask the heads of regions in cities and regencies to, together, suppress the percentage of stunting. Currently, the percentage of stunting reaches 24,5%” Ridwan said.

He believed that if until 2045 stunting issues had not been addressed, then Indonesia could not become a superpower.

“Indonesia cannot become a superpower country if the stunting percentage is still high. It is because in 2045, 75% of Indonesians will be below 40 years old. This is a huge demographical bonus, if we take advantage of it, they will only become a burden for the country,” he said.

In the musrenbang, the West Java Government also gave achievements to several cities and regencies. These achievements are a form of appreciation for cities and regencies that have successfully developed their areas through the best innovative programs. (din)*
