Painting and Sports Competitions Start to Celebrate Independence Day Celebrations in Pasirbiru

Although Indonesia's Independence Day is only celebrated in August, the excitement has also begun to be felt since this June. Although Indonesia's Independence Day is only celebrated in August, the excitement has also begun to be felt since this June.

It was a resident of RW 06 Kampung Jati, Pasirbiru Village, Cibiru District, Bandung, who held a competition called SORA. SORA itself is an abbreviation of Arts, Sports, Religion, Actualization since last Saturday 11 June 2022.

According to the Chairman of the Committee, Ayi Ketu, a number of events to celebrate Independence Day are held every week with different competitions.

The first week on June 11, 2022, carried the theme of art with the type of painting competition. A total of 5 RTs were involved in the competition for the gold medal.

“We have 5 groups representing each RT. Everyone from children to adults participated. The winners will receive gold, silver and bronze medals. Then the medals are collected until all competitions are over," he explained.

Later, at the peak of the August 17 event, it will be announced that RT has won the most gold medals.

Especially for the painting competition, each group paints with a different theme. The judging was also carried out by two experts in the field of painting who were students of UIN Bandung.

“There are themes of religion, arts, August competitions, mutual cooperation, and the struggle of heroes. We also value not only from beauty. But from several aspects, namely the suitability of the theme, color composition, tidiness and cleanliness, uniqueness, and finally creativity," said another committee member, Annas.

It didn't stop there, RW 06 Kampung Jati closed the event with angklung playing activities that involved the entire audience.
Led by a resident, the community was very enthusiastic in playing the song Ibu Kita Kartini. The event, which started at 14.00 WIB, ended at 21.00 WIB.

On Sunday 12 June 2022, it will be followed by a sports competition.

Mit, a resident of RW 06, said that the purpose of participating in the competition is to celebrate Independence Day.

“Just join in the fun, even though it's not really someone who can really paint. Hopefully, the creativity of RW 06 can be an example for other RWs," he said. (Azzara)*
