500 Cyclists Footprints of Soekarno's Struggle in Bandung
A total of 500 participants took part in the Fun Game Bike to Tribute Ir. Soekarno, Sunday, June 26, 2022. The participants cycled for 21 km with a route passing through historical places that are closely related to Ir. Soekarno in the city of Bandung.
Starting from Jalan Sukarno, the cyclists pass 7 points of Soekarno's historical heritage. These include the Merdeka Building, the Indonesia Suing Building, the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), the Great Mosque of Cipaganti, the Malabar House, the House of Ibu Inggit Garnasih, and the Banceuy Prison.
This event is part of the Soekarno month activities this June. This event was released directly by the Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana on Jalan Soekarno.
"Through this activity, I hope the people of Bandung will continue to appreciate and remind the traces of historical heritage. Also to remind our children that Bandung deserves to be Bung Karno's City of Struggle," he said.
He also hopes that the activities carried out after the Covid-19 pandemic will be able to restore the economy.
"Hopefully, after the Covid-19 pandemic, we can carry out various activities. This activity can accelerate the process of economic recovery, as well as social, cultural, religious activities in the city of Bandung," he said.
After releasing the Fun Game Bike to Tribute, Ir. Soekarno, Yana inaugurated the cultural heritage building Jalan Gatot Subroto No. 54.
In that place, the building owner, Rico, thanked the Bandung City Government for the support so far for the building he lived in.
“Thank you to the Bandung City Government for being so considerate of us. Bandung City Government supports until the inauguration of this cultural heritage building. Hopefully we can both maintain cultural heritage buildings in the city of Bandung, "he said.
