The Food and Agriculture Security Service (DKPP) carried out vaccinations for the prevention of Nail Mouth Disease (FMD) to animals at Gang Lumbung 4, Babakan Ciparay, Monday 27 June 2022.

This vaccination targets 66 cows in that location. This amount is part of the total 200 vaccines administered throughout the city of Bandung.

The Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana, said that this vaccination was an effort to prevent the spread of animal FMD in the city of Bandung.

"This vaccine is a priority for cows to be bred," said Yana.

For cows that will be used as sacrificial animals, Yana said the inspection process is still being carried out. Later, these sacrificial animals will be given a scanner mark (barcode) to declare their health.

He also ensured that there were enough officers in the field to monitor the health of the sacrificial animals.

"It will be checked later. If there is no barcode mark (on the sacrificial animals being sold) don't buy it because we don't guarantee its health," Yana ordered.

Technically, he said that the cows sold for sacrificial animals would later be detected by the e- Selamat application. This detection includes the history of the sacrificial animal that will be sold.

According to him, this is to give confidence to the people of Bandung City who want to buy sacrificial animals.

Regarding the quota of 200 vaccines given, Yana said the amount was sufficient for the city of Bandung. Later, four weeks later the cows that have been vaccinated will be monitored and given a second dose of vaccine.

Yana also reassured the people of Bandung City that PMK cases in Bandung City are classified as very low and the cure rate is high.

“There are several but the cure rate is high. God willing, it will be safe," said Yana.

Meanwhile, the Manager of CV Konitas Mandiri Satwa, H. Ojon, thanked the Bandung City Government for the vaccinations that had been given to his cows.

He also made sure that the cows in the pen were in good health, even though they had been exposed to FMD.

Ojon said that there were 10 cows that had been exposed to FMD. However, within two weeks, the cows were declared cured.

“Only 10, but all have recovered. The factors are many, it can be from interactions with humans, more cows, or vehicles. But it's all healed," he said. (ray)**
